摘要:
A pouring device includes a container, a stiffening member with first and second stiffening portions having respective terminating ends spaced from each other. The first and second stiffening portions are coupled to the container with a deformable region of the container being positioned between the terminating ends of the first and second stiffening portions. The deformable region can be more resilient than the stiffening member to form a pour spout at least in part from the deformable region upon application of a force to the container toward opposing sides of the deformable region.

A hulling device includes a cap, a pushing member, a spring between the cap and pushing member, and at least one nipper having two nipping members coupled to the pushing member and extending toward the cap. The nipping members are mutually shaped with the cap and slide contiguous respective contact regions of the cap to separate tips of the nipping members upon actuation of the pushing member. The separated tips can be inserted in a food item, such as a strawberry, and twisted and pulled to hull the food item. The user can release the pushing member when the tips are in the food item to improve gripping and severing the hull. The hulling device can also include a main body housing at least a portion of the pushing member, cap, spring, and first and second nippers, the main body being coupled to the cap, the pushing member, or both.

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for generating translations of natural language terms from a first language to a second language. A plurality of terms are extracted from unaligned comparable corpora of the first and second languages. Comparable corpora are sets of documents in different languages that come from the same domain and have similar genre and content. Unaligned documents are not translations of one another and are not linked in any other way. By accessing monolingual thesauri of the first and second languages, a category is assigned to each extracted term. Then, category-to-category translation probabilities are estimated, and using said category-to-category translation probabilities, term-to-term translation probabilities are estimated. The invention preferably exploits class-based normalization of probability estimates, bi-directionality, and relative frequency normalization. The most important applications are cross-language text retrieval, semi-automatic bilingual thesaurus enhancement, and machine-aided human translation.

In one particular embodiment, a basting device incorporates a handle body, having a handle portion and a working portion, and a bristle cartridge removably coupled to the working portion of the handle body. The bristle cartridge has a set of first bristles projecting outwardly from the cartridge in a first direction and a set of second bristles projecting outwardly from the cartridge in a second direction different from the first direction. At least one of the first and second bristles has a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end being attached to the bristle cartridge and the distal end having a slit therein extending from the distal end toward the proximal end. The slit has a width sized to cause fluid to be drawn into the slit through capillary action when the distal end of the bristle is submerged in the fluid.

An improved probe guide and probe guide system for use in conjunction with a medical imaging device is disclosed. The medical imaging device may be any type of imaging device that generates a cross-sectional image of a portion of a patient's body in a single image plane, such as, ultrasound, CT, or MRI imaging devices. The probe guide allows maintaining the movement of the probe within the image plane and accurate placement of a probe, such as a biopsy needle, by allowing a range of angular translation of the probe. The probe guide system enables extrapolation of the penetration path of the probe held by the probe guide and superimpose it on to the cross-sectional image allowing the medical personnel to view the penetration path of the probe within the patient in advance.
