Abstract: A socket connector includes an insulative housing defining an upper surface and a bottom surface, a plurality of contacts received in the housing, and a pick up cap assembly mounted upon the housing and covering the contacts. The pick up cap assembly includes a pick up cap having an opening exposed to contacts, and a deformable shield secured onto the pick up cap and covering the opening. The shield includes two layers having different coefficient of thermal expansion so that the shield warps upward when exposed to a heat, allowing heat to reach to the upper surface of the housing.

Abstract: A socket connector, adapted for electrically connecting an IC package and a printed circuit board, comprises a frame, an insulative housing, a cover plate, a heat pipe retainer, two heat pipes, a backplane, and a plurality of fastening members. The insulative housing is located in and surround by the metal substrate frame. The heat pipe retainer with the heat pipes are seated on the IC package received in the insulative housing. The cover plate is on the heat pipe retainer. The fastening member fastens the frame, the cover plate and the backplane together and to the printed circuit board. The heat pipe retainer is formed with a post in a center thereof, and the cover plate is formed with a hole receiving the post, so that the heat pipe retainer is flexibly orientated and can rotates around the hole.

Abstract: An electrical socket (1) for supporting an integrated circuit chip on a circuit board mainly comprises a non-conductive base (10), a plurality of conductive contacts (20) retained in the base, a slidable cover (30) and an actuator member (40) for moving the slidable cover with respect to the base. The base defines a receiving space (100) for receiving the actuator member and a recessed portion (109) adjacent to the receiving space. The cover forms a projection member (36) which projects from a bottom surface thereof beyond an adjacent side edge thereof to be slidablely received in the recessed portion.
