Abstract: Techniques for switching facilities in cross-connect systems are provided. Redundant line cards can determine line card path status and insert the path status into the associated data stream. A switch matrix can analyze the path status of the redundant line cards in hardware and switch the selected line card based on which line is providing the best performance. Additionally, consecutive path status information can be analyzed before switching line cards.
