At least one electrode being transparent or translucent, and a buffer layer and an organic compound layer is disposed between the anode and the cathode. The organic compound layer has one or more layers including at least a light-emitting layer. At least one of the layers of the organic compound layer comprising at least one specific charge-transporting polyether. At least one of the layers having the charge-transporting polyether is provided in contact with the buffer layer. The buffer layer is provided in contact with the anode and has at least one charge injection material selected from the group consisting of an inorganic oxide, an inorganic nitride, and an inorganic oxynitride. The invention further provides a display device using the organic electroluminescent device.
