    摘要： The invention relates to scissors and a sharpening device. The scissors include two blades, each blade having a cutting edge and a back edge which respectively form opposite longitudinal edges of the blade. A pivot connects the two blades for relative movement of the blades between an open condition in which the cutting edge of each blade are apart and a closed condition in which each blade are substantially adjacent and the back edge of each blade projects beyond the cutting edge of the other blade. The blades also include a sharpening condition in which the cutting edge of each of the blades can be sharpened. A biasing means is included for biasing the blades away from the sharpening condition towards the closed condition and/or the open condition. The sharpening device is for scissors including two blades having a cutting edge. The sharpening device includes a hollow housing for receiving the blades of the scissors, a pair of positioning units within the housing arranged in an opposed relationship to receive the blades therebetween when the scissors are inserted into the housing, and a pair of sharpener units located within the housing arranged in an opposed relationship to contact the blades therebetween.

    摘要： The present invention relates to a device for containing one or more blades. In a preferred for, the device is a knife block for containing a plurality of knives. The device includes a housing having a plurality of openings, each opening for containing a respective blade therein. The device also includes a blade restraining mechanism including a restraining member having active and inactive conditions in that when a blade is inserted within one of the openings such that substantially an entire cutting edge of the blade is within the opening, in the active condition the restraining member prevents withdrawal of the blade from the opening and in the inactive condition the restraining member allows withdrawal of the blade from the opening. In a preferred form, the device is configured to contain a plurality of blades that each include opposite substantially parallel sides which meet at a cutting edge, an opening within the blade extending between and transversely to the substantially parallel sides of the blade and enclosed within the blade, wherein the opening is engaged by the restraining member when in the active position to prevent withdrawal of the blade from the opening and which is disengaged by the restraining member when in the inactive position to allow withdrawal of the blade from the opening. The present invention also relates to a combination of the device and one or more of the blades.

    摘要： The present invention relates, in one aspect, to a cooking utensil including a functional member configured to engage a food item and a handle member extending from the functional member for gripping the utensil and for moving the functional member. The functional member includes a blade having a pair of opposite surfaces meeting at a pair of opposite lateral edges, one of the lateral edges being sharpened to form a cutting edge and the other one of the lateral edges including prongs and at least one of the planar surfaces having one or more recesses that do not pass entirely through the blade. In a preferred form, the one or more recesses include one or more concave depressions in the at least one of the planar surfaces. The present invention relates, in another aspect, to a cooking utensil including a functional member configured to engage a food item and a handle member extending from the functional portion for gripping the utensil and for moving the functional portion wherein a length by which the handle member extends from the functional portion is adjustable. In one embodiment the cooking utensil is a spatula and in another embodiment a pair of tongs.
