摘要: An electronic supervisory control system is disclosed herein wherein rotary power, rotary speed, bit weight, hole size, penetration rate and mud weight ratio are utilized in conjunction with analog and electronic sensing means in order to afford drilling personnel a supervisory control system over drilling operation. Recorded information includes the rate of penetration, corrected d exponent and rotary torque, which may be visually recorded and electronically stored for use for both supervisory control and simultaneous understanding of the monitored drilling variables and their effect upon the drilling operation. A method for monitoring and recording of the drilling operation wherein a drill string having a kelly and a drill bit is turned by means of a rotary motor.

摘要: A method is disclosed for reducing drilling torque and preventing sticking of drilling pipe when a permeable formation such as sand is penetrated during the drilling of a well. The reduction in drilling pipe torque which results is particularly advantageous in the drilling of deviated holes. A slug of gel slurry is deposited in the hole after the permeable formation has been entered, and the slug is then squeezed at a calculated pressure which causes liquid from the slurry to migrate from the hole into the formation. However, the bulk of the gel is filtered out by the formation at or near the wall of the hole, and is thus laid down as a packed cake with the formation itself serving as the matrix on which the cake forms. The squeeze is carried out at a pressure which is substantially greater than the hydrostatic pressure at the point being squeezed and at least equals the greatest pressure which is expected to exist later on at the side of the squeeze after drilling has proceeded to a greater depth. The resulting gel cake is dense enough to seal the wall of the hole and thereby substantially negates loss of fluid from the drilling mud into the formation. Preventing loss of fluid into the formation by means of the gel cake also provides the additional advantage of curtailing inward growth of the hole wall by build-up of drill cuttings thereon. Circulation of drilling mud remains adequate and provides good lubrication between the pipe and the wall of the hole even during sharply deviated drilling. As drilling continues, the integrity of the gel cake is not detrimentally affected by further elevation of pressure where the cake resides in the hole since the squeeze pressure for the formation thereof was at least as great as will later exist at that point from use of higher density drilling mud, greater casing pressure, etc.

The chromogenic reagent, preferably 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone hydrochloride monohydrate (MBTH), is absorbed on a porous polymeric material. The preferred polymeric supporting medium is a film of porous polyethylene. 摘要: Disclosed herein is a method for the reduction of the scale deposition in the formation and fractures about a producing wellbore. In particular, gypsum scale deposition is avoided by the addition of scale preventative to an absorbent which may be used as a propping agent and positioned in hydraulically created fractures within the formation. Subsequent production from the formation, through the fractures, slowly bleeds the gypsum scale preventative into the produced water and thereby prevents gypsum scale deposition in the wellbore.
