    Abstract: An optical star assembly having a ribbon fiber optic mixing element with the first and second ends. A first and second bundle of fiber optic cables are provided each with an engagement end for connection with a respective end of the ribbon fiber optic mixing element. The ribbon fiber optic mixing element and a portion of the fiber optic cables are carried in the housing so that the housing biases each end of the ribbon fiber optic mixing element towards an engagement end of the first and second bundles of fiber optic cables respectively. The fiber optic cables may be connected to a plurality of optical receivers so that the ribbon fiber optic mixing element distributes optical information from each of the fibers to all of the optical receivers in the assembly.

    Abstract: An electrical connection system for connecting an electrical device mounted on an instrument panel to an electrical circuit located behind the panel including a male plug mounted on the back wall of an instrument panel receptacle and a female socket mounted inside the electrical device adjacent an access hole. The male plug has a nonconductive connector body and a plurality of metal terminals that are retained in terminal cavities by flexible arms that project into tubular contact portions at the forward ends of the terminals. The connector body of the male plug has a platform at the forward end where the terminal cavities have channel shaped portions that have open exterior sides for exposing the tubular contact portions of the metal terminals. The tubular contact portions each include a lock aperture that cooperates with an associated flexible lock arm for retaining the terminals in the terminal cavities. The female socket has a nonconductive connector body and a plurality of compliant metal terminals. Each of the compliant metal terminals has a flexible tongue that projects into the slot for contacting the flat contact surface of a metal terminal of the male plug when the female socket is plugged onto the male plug.

    Abstract: A vehicle wiring assembly 10 for supplying power to a sliding door 8 even when the door 8 is open. The assembly 10 includes a wire bundle 12 having a first end 14 attached to the vehicle and a second end 16 attached to a predetermined position on the sliding door 8. The assembly 10 also includes a spring mechanism 18 attached at one end to the vehicle and at the other end to the wire bundle 12 at a position spaced from the first end 14 of the wire bundle. The basic assembly also includes a bundle guide 20, 20′ disposed along the wire bundle 12 between the spring mechanism 18 and the second end 16 of the wire bundle 12, where the bundle guide 20, 20′ slidably supports the wire bundle 12 as it extends from the vehicle to the door 8. The bundle guide 20, 20′ attaches to the vehicle adjacent the sliding door 8.

    Abstract: Multiple annular electrical connectors are each positioned floatably through a respective aperture of a tray. A shield plate is secured over the tray by bolts which thread into a cylinder head. The shield plate has holes centered above the apertures for access to spark plugs disposed below. Each annular electrical connector is centered about an annular pressure sensing device which encompasses the spark plug. The inboard side of the electrical connector is in electrical contact with the outboard side of the sensing device beneath the tray. Insulated wires extend between the tray and shield plate from each electrical connector and connect to a common panel mounted electrical connector at one end of the tray.
