The polycarbonate resin contains a recurring unit represent by the following formula (1) as the major constituent, and has (i) a specific viscosity of a solution prepared by dissolving 0.7 g of the resin in 100 ml of methylene chloride at 20° C. of 0.20 to 0.45, (ii) a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 150 to 200° C., and (iii) a 5% weight loss temperature (Td) of 330 to 400° C.
