摘要: A vascular intervention device delivery system, such as for implanting a self expanding stent, includes a thumbwheel rotatably mounted in a handle. A catheter has a proximal end attached to the handle and a distal carrier segment for mounting a stent thereon. A retractable sheath is movable to a position retracted proximally to uncover the distal carrier segment. A pull with a curved cross section extends between the thumbwheel and the retractable sheath. An idler wheel with a perimeter notch is rotatably mounted in the handle proximal to the thumbwheel. A pin is movably in the handle between a first position received in the perimeter notch to block rotation of the idler wheel, and a second position outside of the perimeter notch to permit rotation of the idler wheel. The pull wraps around the idler wheel to return in a direction for being wound onto a spool of the thumbwheel.

摘要: A method of making a side-to-side anastomosis includes making first and second holes through a first vessel, and second vessel, respectively, by receiving a jaw of a punch tool into exposed ends of the respective vessels, and then moving a punch tool toward the jaw and through the wall of the vessel. The vessels are joined with an elongate eyelet with a passage that matches a shape of the oval first and second holes. The long axes of the oval holes are oriented parallel to a longitudinal axes of the respective vessels.

摘要: A vascular intervention device delivery system includes a thumbwheel rotatably mounted in a handle. A termination assembly is mechanically connected to the handle. A catheter extends through the termination assembly and has a proximal end attached to the handle, and a distal carrier segment for mounting a vascular intervention device. A retractable sheath is movable from a first position covering the distal carrier segment to a second position retracted proximally to uncover the distal carrier segment. A pull extends between the thumbwheel and the retractable sheath, and through the termination assembly. A stability sheath that receives the pull and the inner catheter has a proximal end that terminates in the termination assembly.

摘要: An introducer set includes an introducer and dilator along with an extension in a sealed sterile peal open package. The extension is available for use during procedures where the puncture access site to the patient is close enough to the site to be treated in the patient that the physician's hands and/or head may be positioned in the fluroscopic area while the physician is attempting to maneuver a wire guide to a desired location. When the extension is attached to the introducer, the physician may perform a procedure, such as an antigrade stick in the lower leg of a patient, while maintaining their hands and head outside of the fluroscopic area while direct radiation is being supplied and the wire guide is being maneuvered to a desired treatment location. After the wire guide has been properly positioned and the radiation has been terminated, the extension may be disconnected from the introducer and the remaining portions of the procedure (guide catheter insertion, balloon catheter insertion and dilation, etc.) may proceed in a known manner. The extension need only be in the range of ten to thirty centimeters to allow the physician to work a safe distance from the fluroscopic area undergoing direct radiation.

摘要: A vascular intervention device delivery system includes a handle comprised of a first shell connected to a second shell. A thumbwheel, which includes a radially outward thumb surface and a spool, is rotatably mounted in the handle. A catheter has a proximal end attached to the handle and a distal carrier segment for mounting a vascular intervention device thereon. A retractable sheath is movable from a first position covering the distal carrier segment to a second position retracted proximally uncovering the distal carrier segment. A pull extends between the thumbwheel and the retractable sheath. A rim of the pull and an internal surface of the first shell define a pull avoidance volume. The first shell includes a plurality of ribs positioned in the pull avoidance volume and oriented transverse to a pull pathway around an idler wheel, and the ribs block entry of the pull into the pull avoidance volume. The retractable sheath moves toward the second position responsive to rotation of the thumbwheel in a first direction.

摘要: An implanted device, such as an inferior vena cava filter, that is partially embedded in soft tissue is retrieved by coupling a vibration device to the implanted device. The implanted device is disembedded from the soft tissue at least in part by generating a vibration with a vibration generator, transmitting the vibration along the vibration transmission apparatus to the implanted device, and vibrating the implanted device. The implanted device is then moved away from the embedding site. A medical device assembly includes the vibration generator, the implantable device and the vibration transmission apparatus.

摘要: A balloon catheter includes a first balloon positioned inside of a second balloon, both of which are mounted about a catheter and fluidly connected to respective inflation lumens. In a first inflated configuration, the second balloon is inflated and has a shape that includes a plurality of bulb segments, with each two consecutive bulb segments being separated by a waist hoop. In a second inflated configuration both the inner and outer balloons are inflated, and the inner balloon bears radially outwardly against the waist hoop of the outer balloon such that the waist hoop of the outer balloon has a larger diameter in the second inflated configuration than in the first inflated configuration. The bulb segment separated by waist hoops enable the balloon catheter to conform to curved passageways, such as during the implementation of a stent.
