摘要: The present disclosure generally pertains to devices and methods for generating thrust in vehicles, for instance in space applications. A heaterless, insertless hollow cathode utilizes AC and pulsed DC electric fields to ionize the propellant gas and generate a plasma plume. The cathode uses an argon microplasma generated in a quartz tube with a tungsten filament and brass ion collector. Free electrons are then drawn from the plasma plume and supplied to a thruster engine.

摘要: Disclosed herein are compositions of nanoparticles with naringenin as a folate receptor (FR)-targeting ligand and methods of making and administering the nanoparticles with naringenin (NAR) ligands for drug delivery applications. The disclosed compositions include NAR-functional polyester-based nanoparticles encapsulating insulin (i.e. insulin-laden NAR-functional nanoparticles), which showed loading capacities of 10% and encapsulation efficiency of >70%. The insulin-laden NAR-functional nanoparticles are shown in examples to have a 3-fold higher bioavailability of insulin compared to unfunctionalized nanoparticles, suggesting the role of receptor-mediated transport across the intestinal barriers. Methods of making NAR-functional nanoparticles are also disclosed herein, and methods of administration for the peroral delivery of encapsulated drugs.

摘要: The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for processing optical signals. In some embodiments, an optical system has an optical device for receiving a plurality of optical signals and processing such signals in a desired way. The optical device has one or more functional layers that are separated by buffer layers. The index of refraction of at various points in each functional layer is controlled during manufacturing so that the functional layer performs one or more optical functions or, in other words, manipulates one or more incoming optical signals in a desired way, such as switching, filtering, splitting, focusing, collimating, etc. As an example, the index of refraction profile within a region of a functional layer may be controlled so that an incoming signal from a first optical fiber is redirected for reception by a second optical fiber that is not aligned with the first optical fiber.

摘要: In an aspect, the disclosed technology relates to embodiments of a lossy ferrite-core and dielectric-shell (LFC-DS) structure in an axial-mode helical antenna (AM-HA) or a meandered dipole antennas. The instant topology can be used to facilitates the broader use of ferrite materials, including lossy ferrite material, for a miniature AM-HA or meandered dipole antennas, e.g., by overcoming the lossy characteristics of the lossy ferrite. The resulting miniature AM-HA can be used for high frequency operation, including at over 1 GHz, making the instant topology suitable for very high frequency (VHF) and ultra-high Frequency (UHF) applications.

The Fe—Co—Al alloy magnetic thin film has a crystallographic orientation such that the (100) plane is parallel to a substrate surface and the direction is perpendicular to the substrate surface. The Fe—Co—Al alloy magnetic thin film has good magnetic properties, that is, a magnetization of 1440 emu/cc or more, a coercive force of less than 100 Oe, a damping factor of less than 0.01, and an FMR linewidth ΔH at 30 GHz of less than 70 Oe.

摘要: A method for determining MTPA, flux-weakening, and MTPV operating points over the full speed range of an IPM motor for the most efficient torque control of the motor using a neural network is provided. The neural network is trained using a cloud-based neural network training algorithm. A special technique is developed to generate neural network training data, that is particularly suitable and favorable, to develop a high-performance neural network-based IPM torque control system, and the impact of variable motor parameters is embedded into the neural network system development and training. The provided method can achieve a fast and accurate current reference generation with a simple neural network structure, for optimal torque control of an IPM motor. The method can handle the MTPA, MTPV, and flux-weakening operation considering physical motor constraints.
