Abstract: A vestibular training device for improving vestibular function and balance and reducing fall risk of a subject may include a motion platform configured to support the subject and execute discrete motions, one or more input devices configured to enable the subject to provide responses to the motions, one or more feedback devices configured to provide the subject with feedback indicative of whether the responses are correct or incorrect, and a controller configured to cause the motion platform to execute a first motion, receive, via the one or more input devices, a first response indicative of the subject's perception of the first motion, cause the one or more feedback devices to provide first feedback indicative of whether the first response is correct or incorrect, determine a second motion based at least in part on the first response, and cause the motion platform to execute the second motion.

Abstract: An exemplary recurrent quantum photonic processor and method are disclosed that can generate squeezed photon states in preparing coherent photonic qubits and then process them through recurrent linear-optic circuitries. The quantum photonic processor can employ vectors of lights and combine them using optical quantum effects for matrix-vector multiplication. The processor includes a plurality of optical circuits, each includes a microring resonator that utilizes spontaneous wave mixing to generate photon number states having an uncertainty smaller than that of a coherent state for qubits. The circuits include a waveguide coupled to the microring resonator, the waveguide having a set phase shifters to cause a phase shift in the optical circuits.

Abstract: An apparatus produces a target metabolite in a bioreaction. The apparatus has a reactor vessel that contains a bulk liquor in which the bioreaction is conducted, with a headspace provided above the bulk liquor. In some instances, the target metabolite is favorably partitioned into a foam formed at an interface of the bulk liquor and the headspace. A foam collector is arranged to receive this foam from the bioreactor and break it into a condensed foam liquid, from which the target metabolite may be isolated and purified. In one exemplary application, Paenibacillin is produced by fermentation of a medium by Paenibacillus polymyxa OSY-DF, and is preferentially concentrated in the foam. In another exemplary application, fermentation of a medium by Bacillus velezensis GF610 produces amyloliquecidin GF610 is which is preferentially concentrated in the foam.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a contact lens. Some disclosed embodiments comprise a lenticular aspect. In some instances the lenticular aspect varies in at least one of thickness, distance from the edge of the contact lens, or lenticular height along its length. In one aspect, a superior portion of the lenticular aspect attaches to an upper eyelid of a wearer by at least a portion of the lenticular aspect interacting with an upper tarsal plate of the upper eyelid of a wearer.

Abstract: Glioblastomas (GBMs) are primary brain lesions with poor overall survival rates. Nearly 95% of patients die within 5 years of primary diagnosis. One of the leading factors to this high mortality is the inevitable nature of cancer recurrence. Disclosed herein are methods and compositions related to the identification and treatment of glioblastoma. Specifically, disclosed herein are methods for identifying progressing glioblastoma, and distinguishing it from pseudo-progression.
