摘要： A method and apparatus for selective high-speed insertion of sheets from a plurality of webs into envelopes provides a mechanism for folding and inserting sheets into preformed envelopes. Preformed envelopes are provided for folding and inserting from a source that may be a roll. A plurality of sheets are fed for folding and inserting into an envelopes. A leading sheet from each of the webs is selectively driven and cut at a collection point for folding and inserting. The selecting of sheets for feeding and cutting may be accomplished by means of a CPU that may include a bar code detection system disposed along each of the webs. A system for widening the openings of envelopes to facilitate insertion of contents may also be included. This system may comprise a strip along each of the envelopes is a stream that includes a folded section within each opening or may comprise tabs disposed along an opening side of each envelope.

摘要： An adjustable girth control for the tube former in a packaging machine for encapsulating individual rolls or groups of rolls in a film. The tube former includes a forming body which is shaped to envelope the product passing therethrough and which has opposite adjustable forming elements with a variable gap between them. The forming elements are shifted horizontally and vertically to vary internal dimensions of the forming body to accommodate rolls of different diameters. Shifting can occur manually or automatically responsive to detection of the sizes of incoming rolls.

In a region between the roll and the folding means there is provided an element for dispensing adhesive material in a direction transverse to the web, the dispensing element being operated by means which sense the arrival of each product.

摘要： A device for edgewise stacking flat single objects such as letters from a belt conveyor system or the like into a container or a fixed or mobile stacking system utilizes a moving container mounted on its side in front of an output module of a sorting system and moving downwardly at a controlled rate. The container is inclined relative to the vertical and the sorted objects are guided into the container by an inclined flat bottomed chute having a single rib at its lower edge, whereby the objects are flatwise stacked into the container. When the container is then turned upwards, the objects (letters) are stacked edgewise and their orientation and face are maintained.

摘要： A container (10) for stacking and bundling newspaper (P) or the like includes a rear wall (13) and side walls (11, 12) defining an open front around which is a rim (14). The rear wall (13) and the side walls (11, 12) extend upwardly from a bottom surface (31) and are provided with windows (26, 27, 28) therein. Front pedestals (29, 30) and rear pedestals (32, 33) are positioned at the front and rear of the side walls (11, 12) and have inclined upper newspaper supporting surfaces (34, 35, 36, 37) all lying in the same plane. The bottom surfaces (31) is provided with raised stop surfaces (39, 40, 41) and inclined ramp surfaces (43, 44, 45, 46) to locate a ball of twine used to bundle the newspaper (P). The twine may be tied to rear wall (13) through window (28) and draped from back to front along bottom surface (31) and may also be tied to one side wall (11, 12) through window 26) or window (27) and draped from side to side along bottom surfaces (31) so that newspaper (P) resting on the pedestals (29, 30, 32, 33) may be readily bundled. A bag (B) may also be positioned on the pedestals (29, 30, 32, 33) such that its open mouth extends generally upwardly through the open front of the container (10) to receive the newspapers (P).

The so-pulled foil is continuously fed, even after it is stretched over the cutter elements, and a deflection bar or rail is passed between the holder elements to deflect the foil into zig-zag shape, to form reception pockets. The products are introduced into the pockets, the zig-zag shaped pockets are severed along a connection line and welded shut at the sides, as well as along the connection lines, for example by heat welding.

The first or last of the copy product stations (1, 4) can hold folded newspapers which, for example, can be the main section of a newspaper, with which specific regional or advertisement inserts, formed by the copy products, are then assembled.
