The method may further include the step of machining the bell shaped outer bearing race to create the stub shaft integrally connected to the disc shaped outer bearing race, before separating the bell shaped outer bearing race into the disc shaped outer bearing race and the stub shaft.

    摘要: The present invention relates to swivel fluid fittings and swivel hose ends. In prior art designs, it has been a problem to provide simple, compact, and economical swivel fluid fittings in which the ball thrust bearings are both lubricated and protected from the environment by being located on the fluid side of the rotary seal. The present invention solves the problem by partially assembling the swivel fluid fitting prior to projection welding of the two-piece outer member and by magnetically retaining the steel balls during assembly. Principal uses for the invention include providing swiveling joints in either rigid or flexible conduits for conducting of air, gasses, and liquids.

    摘要: A novel and improved method of forging preselected recessed surfaces in a member is disclosed which comprises the steps of adding a suitable lubricant material to at least a slave or primary preform member wherein the lubricant material is sufficient to prevent welding between the noted preforms during the forging operation. Moreover, the method envisions the step of joining the slave preform to the primary body preform member, followed by forging the joined together preforms such that the primary preform member is deformed to an extent generally complementary to a portion of the configuration of the slave preform, such that the forged primary preform has formed therein a shaped recess generally complementary to at least a portion of the configuration of the slave preform. It is contemplated that the forged slave and primary preforms are quenched subsequent to forging. Thereafter, the method contemplates removing the quenched slave preform from the primary preform.

    摘要: A method of forming circular rims for bicycle wheels from metal profiled strip material in which first strip pieces are cut to a length corresponding to the circumferential length of the rims, curved end portions are formed on each strip piece, and each strip piece is introduced into a three-roll ring rolling apparatus. After the strip piece has been worked up to the trailing curved end portion thereof, the adjustable middle roll of the rolling apparatus is shifted a small distance towards the two outer rolls into a position corresponding with a substantially bending-free passage of the trailing curved end portion of the strip piece. The invention further relates to a pressing apparatus for forming the curved end portions of the strip pieces and to a three-roll ring rolling apparatus for carrying out the method.

    摘要: A bearing is disclosed comprising a rotatable shaft and a coaxial unitary member. The shaft is shaped to provide a ball inner race and at least one roller inner race. The coaxial member has an inside annular protrusion extending toward the shaft. The protrusion has a curved shoulder on one side and a straight shoulder on the other side. The curved shoulder will support a high axial thrust along one direction of the shaft; the straight shoulder will support a relatively low axial thrust applied along the shaft in the opposite direction. The outer unitary member is made by cold-forming a low carbonsteel tube with a die, carburizing, and then heating the thusformed outer race in an inert atmosphere, sizing, and which after quenching, provides a hard outer race. The shaft is made by rolling the ball inner race and at least one roller race into a rod which has been carburized and then heated in an inert atmosphere.
