摘要: A power supply device includes a switching converter, an inductor, and a linear voltage regulator. The inductor is electrically connected between a first switching node and a second switching node of the switching converter. The power supply device is configured such that when the switching converter is in an ON state the inductor is charged with a charging current. The power supply device is further configured such that when the switching converter is in an OFF state, the switching converter modulates an input voltage to generate a positive-bias output voltage at a positive-bias output node, the charging current flows from the inductor such that a negative input voltage is generated at a linear voltage regulator input node, and the linear voltage regulator regulates the negative input voltage to generate a negative-bias output voltage at a negative-bias output node.

摘要: Methods and devices are provided for determining whether a phase is faulted or one or more phases are open in capacitor bank system. Detecting open and faulted phases may include determining a neutral current of the capacitor bank system. An open-phase event and a fault event may be distinguished based on a magnitude of a neutral current within a first or a second predetermined range. According to one embodiment, an IED may calculate an aggregate power phasor for the phases of the capacitor bank system with respect to each rotation. According to another detection method, in response to the magnitude of the neutral current being greater than a threshold value, an IED may calculate an individual power phasor for each of the phases of the capacitor bank system with respect to each rotation. Based on the angles of the power phases, the IED may determine which phases may be faulted.

摘要: The present invention provides a glitch detector including a first inverter, a second inverter, a first capacitor and a second capacitor. The first inverter is connected between a supply voltage and a ground voltage, and is configured to receive a first signal at a first node to generate a second signal to a second node. The second inverter is connected between the supply voltage and the ground voltage, and is configured to receive the second signal at the second node to generate the first signal to the first node. A first electrode of the first capacitor is coupled to the supply voltage, and a second electrode of the first capacitor is coupled to the first node. A first electrode of the second capacitor is coupled to the ground voltage, and a second electrode of the second capacitor is coupled to the second node.

摘要: A power system provides power from a power source to a load via a distribution bus, and includes a DC-DC converter coupled in parallel with a network of switching elements coupled between an output terminal of the power source and the distribution bus. A controller is configured to selectively activate or deactivate the DC-DC converter and each of the switching elements to enable the power source to power the load via the distribution bus. The switching elements may be transistors, and the diodes may be parasitic body diodes of the transistors. The power source may be a battery, such as a rechargeable battery. An output voltage level from the battery may be regulated by the controller as a function of operation of the DC-DC converter and a number of the activated or deactivated transistors.

摘要: A system that detects temperature and current events in a power grid is provided. The system includes a magnetic field sensor associated with an electric meter, a first temperature sensor associated with the electric meter, a plurality of bus bars connected to the electric meter and at least one temperature sensor uniquely associated with each of the plurality of bus bars. The system detects a magnetic field and compares the detected magnetic field to an expected magnetic field threshold or magnetic field threshold range to provide a magnetic field comparison result and the system detects a plurality of temperatures and compares the detected plurality of temperatures to expected temperature thresholds or temperature threshold ranges to provide a temperature comparison result. The system determines if a notification should be sent based on the magnetic field comparison result and/or the temperature comparison result.

摘要: Multiphase trans-inductor voltage regulator fault diagnostic. One example is a method of detecting electrical faults in a multiphase power converter, the method comprising: driving, by a controller of the multiphase power converter, a first phase of the power converter, the first phase comprising a phase-one transformer module; driving, by the controller, a second phase of the power converter, the second phase comprising a phase-two transformer module distinct from the phase-one transformer module; testing, by the controller of the multiphase power converter, for a phase-one electrical fault associated with the phase-one transformer module; testing, by the controller, for a phase-two electrical fault associated with the phase-two transformer module; and driving, by the controller, a fault indicator in the presence of a phase-one or phase-two electrical fault.
