Abstract:
A flexure hinge with two material segments connected to each other via a material tapering to a thin spot which defines a pivot axis between the two material segments. The material segments are provided with recesses such that the strength existing in the thin spot with respect to normal stresses or bending stresses is kept largely constant within a distance from the thin spot.
Abstract:
A modular door assembly is adapted for installation on existing open frame vehicles formed of tubular members. A novel tubular hinge construction provides support for the door assembly while allowing rotational movement of the door in use. Alternative vehicle elements may also be secured to and operable on the novel hinge.
Abstract:
A connecting device configured to rotatably connect a first main body and a second main body of an electronic apparatus includes a rotating mechanism rotatably connecting the first main body and the second main body. A coating mechanism covering at least a part of the rotating mechanism is provided and a supporting component is provide to support an inner side wall of the coating mechanism so that the coating mechanism is bent without folds or crumples as the rotating mechanism is rotated. The connecting device improves man-machine interaction and enables the user to enjoy a better experience.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating a micromechanical part from a substrate in which the part is fabricated by providing a plurality of fasteners between the part and the substrate, the fasteners being sacrificial, characterized in that the fasteners include at least one hinge at the end of each fastener located beside the part, and in that the method includes a step of breaking the sacrificial fasteners. The micromechanical parts employing this type of sacrificial fastener are also described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a door frame, particularly a door frame for a pre-hung door assembly, which is foldable to minimize storage space and to allow for enhanced logistic efficiencies. The door frame contains parallel, spaced apart, vertical jambs and a horizontal header connecting the top ends of the jambs. Each of the jambs and the horizontal header contains a front section and back section that are hingedly joined so that then can be folded on to each other. The hingedly joined front and back sections allow the door fame to be foldable to minimize space occupied during storage.
Abstract:
A closure system (200; 300; 400; 500; 600) comprises the unitarily molded single piece combination of: a first portion (204; 304; 404; 504; 604); a living hinge (202; 302; 402; 502; 602); and a second portion (206; 306; 406; 506; 606) coupled by the living hinge to the first portion and shiftable between a first condition and second condition via rotation about the living hinge. The living hinge comprises a first end (80) at the first portion and a second end (82) at the second portion. Between the first end and the second end, the hinge comprises: a central portion; first and second lateral portions; a first face (88); and a second face (90), at least one of the first face and the second face bearing a plurality of ribs (220, 222; 320; 430, 432, 434; 530, 534; 620).
Abstract:
As described herein, a hinge system may comprise one or more a guide wire hinges. In general, the guide wire hinges may be unitary members having a generally constant diameter. A pair of guide wire hinges may be utilized to hingeably couple a stow box door to the stow box housing. The hinge system may be configured to be deformable in response to experiencing a warping.
Abstract:
An elastically averaged alignment system includes a first component having first and second alignment features, and a second component having third and fourth elastically deformable alignment elements. The first and second components are laterally slidably engageable with each other. The third elastically deformable alignment element is configured and disposed to interferingly, deformably and matingly engage with the first alignment feature. The fourth elastically deformable alignment element is configured and disposed to interferingly, deformably and matingly engage with the second alignment feature. Portions of the third and fourth elastically deformable alignment elements when engaged with respective ones of the first and second alignment features elastically deform to an elastically averaged final configuration that aligns the first component relative to the second component in six planar orthogonal directions by averaging the elastic deformation of the respective elastically deformable alignment elements.
Abstract:
A flexible structure is provided that includes multiple members and a hinge set providing a connection between adjacent members. The hinge set includes at least one living hinge where multiple living hinges are separated by segment portions that collapse on each other when the hinge set is in a closed position.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are disclosed for creating an integrated access door and switch actuator. The integrated access door and switch actuator are created from a single composite material. The composite material is flexible to allow movement, but is also durable to provide a protective covering. The integrated access door and switch actuator include a living hinge, which allows the access door to move to an open and closed position while the switch actuator is stationary in a fixed position.
