    Abstract: A pipe cutter especially adapted to cut soil pipes and the like from the outside in a very narrowly confined space.The soil pipe of a bathroom commode projects outwardly from the wall and is capped a short distance from the wall. The present cutter is mounted on the existing mounting bolts of the soil pipe assembly. The cutter assembly comprises an input shaft which may be driven by a separate electric drill which turns a pinion geared to a ring gear, driving it at slower speed, the latter having mounted, on the inner perimeter, a spring-loaded cutter blade for projecting the blade radially inwardly under spring action during rotation of cutter blade.

    Abstract: A wire stripper for removing the insulation from single-core or coaxial cable has a pair of elongated jaws which are hinged together at one end and are provided with a latch at the other end so that they can clamp the wire between them. One of the jaws carries a blade, preferably in a replaceable cartridge, adapted to penetrate into part of the periphery of the insulation of the wire while the other jaw is formed with a bed to receive the wire and hold it during penetration by the blade. One of the jaws is also provided with a ring or eye into which the user can insert a finger and thereby twirl the tool around to effect relative rotation of the tool and the wire to cut through the insulation over its entire circumference. The tool is then drawn off the wire axially or the wire is withdrawn axially from the tool to strip the severed length of insulation from the wire. When two axially spaced cuts are to be made, the replaceable cartridge is formed with two blades in parallel transversely spaced relation.

    Abstract: A manually operable tool for cutting cables and the like has first and second crossed levers formed with co-operating cutting jaws. A handle pivotable on the first lever has a spring biassed plunger mounted within it which bears against a toothed fulcrum member integral with the second lever. Closure of the jaws is effected by a ratchet action on pivoting the handle; the plunger drives the jaws together during the forward stoke and a retaining pawl locks the jaws in their relative positions during the return stroke. Means are included to effect simultaneous release of the plunger and the retaining pawl from the toothed fulcrum member to enable rapid opening or closure of the jaws.
