Abstract:
A method of interacting with the internet via a printed page is provided. The page has an interactive element and includes graphical information and coded data identifying a page identity and a plurality of locations on the page. The method includes the steps of: interacting with the interactive element on the page using a sensing device, the sensing device sensing some of the coded data; generating indicating data in the sensing device using the sensed coded data, the indicating data identifying the page identity and a position of the sensing device on the page; and sending the indicating data from the sensing device to a first computer system. The method thereby causes the first computer system to identify a URL using the indicating data and a stored page description associated with the page identity.
Abstract:
A printer for printing an interface onto a surface is provided. The interface is comprised of visible data and machine-readable coded data. The visible data is based at least partially on document data which includes identity data indicative of an identity associated with a region of the interface. The printer comprises an input port for receiving the document data; a printhead and a processor for generating dot data for the printhead using the document data. The processor includes a coded data generator configured to generate the coded data based at least partially on the identity data. Further, printhead comprises ink channels dedicated for printing the visible data and a coded data ink channel dedicated for printing the coded data.
Abstract:
A print unit, that has one or more printhead assemblies, an individual printhead assembly having one or more printheads, the one or more printheads of the one or more printhead assemblies collectively configured to span the width of the media substrate; and one or more servicing assemblies, an individual servicing assembly configured for movement between a retracted position and a service position to service the one or more printheads on the individual printhead assembly.

A printer for printing an interface onto a surface is provided. The interface is comprised of visible data and machine-readable coded data. The visible data is based at least partially on document data which includes identity data indicative of an identity associated with a region of the interface. The processor includes a coded data generator configured to generate the coded data based at least partially on the identity data. Further, the printhead is configured to print the interface onto the surface by printing the visible data and the coded data substantially simultaneously.
Abstract:
A printer is provided for printing, onto a surface, an interface of visible data and invisible coded data. The visible data is based at least partially on document data which includes identity data indicative of an identity associated with a region of the interface. The printer comprises an actuator, a coded data generator configured to generate the coded data based at least partially on the identity data, and a printing mechanism. The printer is configured to print the interface onto the surface by printing the visible data and the invisible coded data substantially simultaneously, using the printing mechanism, in response to actuation of the actuator.
Abstract:
A printer for receiving document data from a computer system and printing an interface onto a surface. The interface is based on the document data, which includes identity data indicative of at least one identity. The identity is, in turn, associated with a region of the interface. The interface also includes coded data. The printer includes a coded data generator configured to generate the coded data based at least partially on the identity data. A printing mechanism in the printer prints the interface onto the surface.
Abstract:
A method and system to capture data being printed onto a document along with an image of content pre-existing on the said document, during the printing process—while the document passes through a printing device is described. This involves the incorporation of one or more scanning elements with the printing element in a printing device. The data and images captured are then integrated as a single entity. Specific and relevant information from the entity thus formed is stored into a separate log/record and used for quality control and validation purposes. The log also enables the creation of metadata for the document that was printed.
Abstract:
A cartridge for a digital printer that includes a binding means, the cartridge includes a housing 640 defining a plurality of storage areas wherein at least one of the storage areas contains colorant for printing and at least one of the other storage areas contains material for use by the binding means.
