摘要： An interface between an alternating voice-data (AVD) modem and a telephone that allows the modem to be connected to a PBX or office-type telephone system without using special software. The user speaks and listens through the telephone handset, which is disconnected from the telephone base and connected to the interface. The interface provides an impedance across the modem "Phone" connection. The impedance simulates the off-hook condition that would normally (i.e., when the modem is connected in the conventional manner to a non-PBX telephone) be provided by the non-PBX telephone and that, absent disabling the requirement by special software, the modem requires in order to properly switch between voice mode and data mode. The interface monitors the modem "Line" connection to detect whether the modem is in an off-hook state or an on-hook state. A compensation circuit minimizes attenuation of the wake-up tone by the impedance across the "Line" connection. When the interface detects that the modem is on-hook, the interface couples the handset to the telephone base. When the interface detects that the modem is off-hook, the relay circuit disconnects the handset and couples the modem "Line" connection to the telephone base.

摘要： A method and apparatus for recording and playing back a sales presentation is disclosed. A telephone interface device is connected to a telephone base, handset and recorder to permit recordation of a sales message using the telephone mouth piece as the recorder microphone. The recorded message has the same sound quality when transmitted over the phone lines as does a normal, live transmission. Transit to and from live and recorded voice is undetected by the party hearing the sales presentation over the phone. Use of the telephone interface device and the recorded sales presentation precludes fatigue and discouragement on the part of the telemarketing sales representative in the face of repeated repetitions of the same sales message and frequent rejections by prospective customers.

摘要： A telephone line monitoring circuit for a MODEM monitors the TIP and RING lines of the telephone line. A first circuit of the monitoring circuit detects when a local phone goes off-hook while the MODEM is on-hook by sensing a decrease in a differential voltage between the TIP and RING lines. A second circuit detects the pick up of a local phone while the MODEM is off-hook by detecting a change in the impedance between the TIP and RING lines. A third circuit detects the hang up of a remote phone connected with the MODEM while the MODEM is off-hook by detecting a temporary break in the DC loop between the central office and MODEM. A snoop circuit monitors the telephone line for DTMF signals while the MODEM is on-hook. The snoop circuit becomes AC coupled to the telephone line when enabled, and does not apply a significant load to the telephone line. The monitoring circuit permits a processor to control a variety of call-related functions, including the recording of incoming voice mail messages, the logging of incoming and outgoing calls, and the blocking of outgoing calls to specified telephone numbers.

摘要： An apparatus for connecting a telecommunications device, such as a computer or facsimile machine modem, to a telephone line via a telephone set. The telephone set includes a base and a handset connected to the base by a handset cord. The handset cord has at one end a handset plug and the base has a base jack for receiving the handset plug. The apparatus selectively electrically couples one of the handset and the telecommunications device to the base. The apparatus includes a first plug for electrically coupling with the base jack, a first jack for electrically coupling with the handset plug, and the second jack for electrically coupling with the telecommunications device connecting plug. A switch, manually selectable between a first position and a second position, electrically couples the first plug with the first jack when in the first position. A converter is coupled to the switch and the second jack such that when the switch second position is selected, the switch electrically interfacing the first plug with the second jack.
