Abstract:
A receiver is configured for canceling intra-cell and inter-cell interference in coded, multiple-access, spread-spectrum transmissions that propagate through frequency-selective communication channels. The receiver employs iterative symbol-estimate weighting, subtractive cancellation with a stabilizing step-size, and mixed-decision symbol estimate. Receiver embodiments may be implemented explicitly in software of programmed hardware, or implicitly in standard Rake-based hardware either within the Rake (i.e., at the finger level) or outside the Rake (i.e., at the user of subchannel symbol level).
Abstract:
A receiver in a CDMA system comprises a front end processor that generates a combined signal per source. A symbol estimator processes the combined signal to produce symbol estimates. An S-Matrix Generation module refines these symbol estimates based on the sub channel symbol estimates. An interference canceller is configured for cancelling interference from at least one of the plurality of received signals for producing at least one interference-cancelled signal.

Abstract:
A joint detection-decoding receiver using a multistage parallel interference canceller for selectively estimating a partial codeword corresponding to a state transition (branch) is disclosed. The JDD receiver of the DS-CDMA system includes a PIC that employs a state sequence to selectively carry out a symbol estimation of a partial codeword corresponding to the branch so as to reduce complexity and a calculation load as well as maintaining a high performance of the receiver according to the joint detection-decoding.

Abstract:
A MIMO Decision Feedback Equalizer improves operation of a receiver by canceling the spatio-temporal interference effects caused by the MIMO channel memory with a set of FIR filters in both the feed-forward and the feedback MIMO filters. The coefficients of these FIR filters can be fashioned to provide a variety of controls by the designer.

The coefficients of these FIR filters can be fashioned to provide a variety of controls by the designer.
Abstract:
A receiver for transmission and parallel interference has multiple access interference suppression stages having K channels, each comprising a correlation device corresponding to a particular pseudorandom sequence and interference generation and suppression device. Each stage delivers to the following stage signals at least partly freed from multiple access interferences. A decision stage receives the signals from the channels of the preceding suppression stage. Each decision stage has a correlation device corresponding to one of the pseudorandom sequences and decision device to deliver data. Devices for producing synchronization signals can control the interference suppression and the decision device. The devices producing the synchronization signals have components placed in the channels of the final stage. Further, the synchronization signals produced by these devices control the decision device of the channels of the final stage and the interference estimation device of the at least one interference suppression stages following appropriate time shifts.

Abstract:
Interference in a wireless communication is minimized, or at least reduced, by scaling the symbols received from an interfering transmitter. Input samples from the interfering transmitter are isolated and decovered to generate received symbols. The gains of the received symbols are scaled to reduce the interference and the scaled symbols are covered to produce output samples that are spread to generate interference cancelled samples with reduced interference from the interfering transmitter. The function applied to scale the symbols may be linear or nonlinear.
