Abstract:
An airbag includes a manifold having an outer panel and an inflation chamber defined at least in party by the outer panel. The airbag further includes a first compartment and a second compartment spaced from the first compartment connected to the outer panel and positioned external to the inflation chamber. A first one-way valve is in fluid communication with the manifold and the first compartment, and a second one-way valve is in fluid communication with the manifold and the second compartment.
Abstract:
A cold gas generator for a vehicle includes a container for storing gas, and an outlet opening closed by a closure element. The apparatus for operating the cold gas generator has a first terminal for a first connecting line for providing a first operating voltage potential, and a second terminal for a second connecting line for providing a second operating voltage potential. The apparatus also has an electrical coil to actuate, in response to a coil current, a closure device for controlling a gas flow through the outlet opening, the coil being connected between the first terminal and the second terminal. The apparatus also has a firing device to open the closure element in response to a firing current, the firing device being connected between the first terminal and the second terminal.
Abstract:
A door assembly for a vehicle includes a door, an inflator mounted to the door, and a passive restraint. The passive restraint has a first airbag chamber and a second airbag chamber. The first airbag chamber is in communication with the inflator and is inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The second airbag chamber is in communication with the inflator and is inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The first airbag chamber in the inflated position extends transverse to the second airbag chamber in the inflated position.
Abstract:
A control device of an electromagnetic actuator for a restraint device, including an evaluation and control unit which generates a control signal which predefines a control sequence having control time periods, in which the actuator is activated, and pause time periods, in which the actuator is deactivated. A protective circuit including a counter is provided, the counter monitoring the control sequence and increments its counter content during the at least one control time period and decrements its counter content during the at least one pause time period, the protective circuit effectuating a deactivation of the actuator when the counter content reaches or exceeds a predefined first threshold value, and allows a reactivation of the actuator when the counter content reaches or falls below a predefined second threshold value after reaching or exceeding the first threshold value, the first counter content being greater than the second counter content.
Abstract:
A side airbag device includes an airbag which includes a first base fabric and a second base fabric constituting an inflatable envelope, and in the event of a lateral collision of a vehicle, the airbag is deployed between an occupant and a door. The airbag further includes a partition fabric between the first base fabric and the second base fabric. The partition fabric partitions the inflatable envelope into a first inflatable compartment corresponding to a shoulder of the occupant, and a second inflatable compartment. The partition fabric is provided with a valve mechanism which opens to connect the first inflatable compartment and the second inflatable compartment when the first inflatable compartment is fully inflated.
Abstract:
An airbag includes at least one panel defining an interior of the airbag, and a divider positioned in the interior so as to divide the interior into a first chamber and a second chamber. A first valve assembly is operatively coupled to the divider for controlling the gas flow between the first chamber and the second chamber. A second valve assembly is fixed within the first chamber and fluidly communicates with an exterior of the airbag. The second valve assembly is operably dependent on the first valve assembly, thereby dynamically controlling the inflation profile of the airbag.
Abstract:
In a vehicle side airbag device, when inflator operates, gas is supplied to left and right chambers of rear bag portion, and gas is supplied from communication opening through between a left and right side partitioning portions directly into a front bag portion. When inflation and expansion of the chambers are completed, the left and ride side partitioning portions are pushed against one another by internal pressures of the chambers, and the communication opening is closed-off. A valley, that is recessed toward a vehicle rear side, is formed at a front surface of the rear bag portion. At a time when the rear bag portion interferes with a vehicle occupant who is at an improper position, this valley is expanded due to the left and right chambers moving apart from one another in a vehicle left-right direction.
Abstract:
An air bag packaging arrangement adapted to have a self-adhesive checking valve includes an air bag and an air valve which is the self-adhesive checking valve. The air bag includes first and second cell overlapped layers to form an air chamber and a valve opening. The air valve includes first and second sealing films overlapped between the first and second cell layers, and a check sealing film overlapped between proximal portions of the first and second sealing films to define an air inflating channel between the first sealing film and the check sealing film, and a backflow prevention channel between the check sealing film and the second sealing film. In case of air leakage, the air is guided to flow to the backflow prevention channel for creating a supplemental air pressure to further seal and close the air inflating channel, so as to make up a deficient sealing effect of the first and second sealing films.

Abstract:
Inflatable restraint assemblies for use with removable vehicle components allow portions of inflator assemblies to remain in the vehicle when the component is removed. The assemblies may include inflatable devices such as an airbag mounted within a removable seat with conduit connecting the inflatable device to a seat connection. The seat connection may be adapted to connect to an inflator connection that is connected to an inflator assembly within the vehicle. Such assemblies allow the inflatable device to be in fluid communication with the inflator assembly when in an installed position, and to allow the inflator assembly to remain attached within the vehicle when the seat is in a removed position.
