Abstract:
An exercise apparatus includes a pair of step-up apparatuses wearable on feet of a user. Each step-up apparatus is configurable between an expanded configuration and a compressed configuration to simulate a selected motion when the user wearing the pair of step-up apparatuses travels by foot. One of the step-up apparatuses moves towards the expanded configuration while the other step-up apparatus moves towards the compressed configuration.
Abstract:
An apparatus attachable to a foot of a user, such as in a leg extension mechanism (stilt device). First and second support members extend from opposing sides of a foot support surface adapted to support the foot. A retention strap has opposing first and second ends each removeably attachable to the support members by the user, preferably by an opposing pair of buckle assemblies. The strap, the support members and the foot support surface maintain the strap in a semi-circular arc nominally symmetric about a centerline of the surface, with the arc having a width greater than a width of the foot support surface to facilitate insertion of the foot between the surface and the strap along the centerline. The support members are preferably slideably adjustable to accommodate different foot widths. A toe guide is also preferably slideably adjustable to align the toes of the foot along the centerline.
Abstract:
An adaptable body conditioning apparatus is disclosed having a relatively rigid platform and gripping attachment with a handle and a stem rotatably receivable through an opening at the platform. A flexible material bushing abuts a threaded shaft of the stem and is received in a retention cavity formed in the handle. A flex limiter is threadably engaged on the threaded shaft of the stem and is manually adjustable along the length of the shaft. The limiter is utilized to limit the amount of tilting movement allowed to the handle under the influence of user weight applied at the handle when in use.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a health and diet footwear with buffering means that has a plurality of spring members mounted on the lower portion thereof, thereby obtaining substantially higher exercising effects as compared to a general footwear. The health and diet footwear with buffering means of the invention can detachably mount fixed plates on a sole by means of screws and have a plurality of spring members disposed between the fixed plates disposed on the upper ends of the spring members and a support plate disposed on the lower ends of the spring members by means of detachable mounting or spiral coupling, so that the spring members can be easily and rigidly coupled therebetween. Further, when a part of the spring members is damaged or broken, it can be exchanged individually. Therefore, this invention can couple the fixed plates and the support plate in a more rigid and easier manner when compared with the conventional practice, which allows a wearer to wear the footwear of this invention more stably for a long time.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enhancing the ability of a human to run and jump with comfort comparable to running barefoot on a trampoline and with control comparable to that of the unaided human form, yet with freedom from ankle-turning roll moments associated with substantial ground contact member (GCM) extension downwardly away from the sole of the foot including, a resiliently urged GCM constrained to two degrees of freedom: translation away from the sole of the user's foot and rotation about a longitudinal axis at ground level. The apparatus relates flexure of a GCM toe pressure member to comparable flexure of user's toes at the metatarsal joints. The apparatus also incorporates lower leg to ankle pivot bracing, and extends the GCM in downward direction parallel to the lower leg while mimicking user ankle articulation with parallelism-maintaining rotation about a downwardly resiliently urged transverse pivot axis similar to the user's own ankle joint for extended travel.
Abstract:
A shoe for running, cross training and the like includes a base member including a raised front portion and a rearwardly extending rear portion. A U-shaped spring is disposed beneath the raised portion. The spring has transversely extending ends engaging the front portion at respective longitudinally spaced locations. The front end of the spring is preferably unconnected to the raised portion such that a projection on the latter cams against and flattens the spring when the user's weight is put on the raised portion. A sole spring element is affixed to the front portion of base member and includes a flexible part overlying, and extending rearwardly beyond, the sole portion of the base member. The flexible part of the rear spring element is disposed at an acute, non-zero angle with respect to the sole portion of the base member.

Abstract:
An amusement footwear comprises an insole, an outsole, and a resilient portion disposed between the insole and the outsole for providing the footwear with a bouncing effect. The resilient portion comprises a plurality of coil springs which are held securely by the fitting portions of the insole and the outsole and are enclosed by a resilient casing fastened between the insole and the outsole. The insole is provided on the heel portion thereof with an adjustment device for adjusting the size of the footwear. The outsole is provided respectively on the undersides of both front and rear ends thereof with an anti-skidding device. The footwear is provided with a front foot-fastening strap held in the front retaining holes of a ring portion of the insole and is further provided with a rear foot-fastening strap held in the rear retaining holes of the ring portion of the insole and the retaining holes of the adjustment device.
Abstract:
A multi-purpose exercise bench employing two juxtapositioned elongated frames. A vertical support is provided for pivotally supporting one of the ends of the bench at a point above the base of an exercise device for movement from a substantially vertical position adjacent the device to a position extending laterally of the base of the device.A socket is mounted on the bench for detachably receiving above the bench a bench accessory. An extension member is provided for pivotally moving one of the frames relative to the other.
Abstract:
An athletic shoe, particularly for running and jumping, including an upper sole, a separate lower sole beneath the upper sole and a leaf spring of approximately the width of the shoe connecting the upper and lower soles. One end of the leaf spring is fastened to one end of the upper sole, such as the front end, while the other end of the leaf spring is fastened to the opposite end of the lower sole. The opposite surfaces of the upper and lower soles facing the spring may be arcuately curved. The spring may be arcuately curved. The upper sole may be fastened to the shoe over the entire length of the upper sole or only at the front of the shoe, e.g. at a joint. Additional springs may be disposed between the upper and lower soles.
