摘要： An electric toothbrush is provided. The electric toothbrush has an elongate body having a handle, a head, and a neck extending between the handle and the head. The body has an interior chamber with a motor. A shaft is operatively connected to the motor. A first movable bristle carrier is disposed on the head. The shaft is operatively connected to the first bristle carrier to impart motion thereto. The first bristle carrier has a first composite tuft formed from a plurality of closely spaced bristle tufts and a plurality of second bristle tufts. The second tufts have a height that is greater than a height of the first composite tuft. The bristles of the first composite tuft having free ends and the bristles of the second tufts having free ends. The total surface area of the bristles of the first composite tuft is greater than the total surface area of the bristles of the second tufts, and the plurality of second tufts are disposed adjacent a portion of a perimeter of the composite tuft to form a first recessed region.

摘要： In a power toothbrush, an interchangeable brush head is directly fitted to a front end portion of a drive shaft of an actuator. The actuator comprises a first magnetic circuit for moving the drive shaft reciprocally in an axial direction of the drive shaft, and a second magnetic circuit for rotating the drive shaft around a center axis of the drive shaft. The first magnetic circuit and the second magnetic circuit are independently excited by independent driving current having predetermined frequencies and a predetermined phase difference therebetween. Thus, the brush head fitted to the drive shaft can be moved in a composition of reciprocal linear movement and reciprocal rotation. The actuator does not include conventional mechanical elements such as gears or cams so that the actuator can move the drive shaft much faster than that of the conventional actuator.

摘要： The head of a powered toothbrush includes a first tuft block mounted for rotational oscillation about an axis generally perpendicular to the outer surface of the head, and a second tuft block having fixed bristles or bristles independently movable by being mounted on an elastomeric base. The second tuft block oscillates perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the head and in an in and out direction perpendicular to the outer surface of the head. A third stationary block may also be mounted on the head of the powered toothbrush. The bristles on the first, second, and third tuft blocks may be of various lengths, colors and stiffness, and may be mounted perpendicularly to or at an angle to the outer surface of the head.

摘要： A linear oscillator and an electric toothbrush capable of emitting a low noise and of being assembled compact are provided. The linear oscillator, which reciprocates a shaft in an axial direction thereof, includes a plunger movable together with the shaft in the axial direction of the shaft, an elastic member for applying an axially acting resilient force to the plunger, an electromagnetic driving unit operable to reciprocate the plunger in the axial direction of the shaft at a resonant frequency when an alternating current is supplied thereto, and a fixing member restricting rotation of the plunger about an axis thereof within a predetermined angle. The electric toothbrush includes the linear oscillator and a brush head attached to the shaft for use in brushing teeth.

摘要： A power toothbrush has a brushhead mounted at one end thereof, the brushhead including a base mounting element for bristles which extend from one surface thereof. Extending from the opposing surface of the base mounting element is a pressure contact member. A substantially rigid brushhead shield extends along and is adjacent to the opposing surface of the brushhead. The brushhead has a hinge-like portion which permits the brushhead to move or swivel in response to pressure being placed on the brushhead, while the brushhead is moving back and forth at its operating frequency of its normal brushing action at over 150 Hz. Thin electrical switch contacts, which are part of an electrical circuit, are positioned on the brush shield, spaced from the contact member on the brushhead. When sufficient pressure is applied against the brushhead, the brushhead moves sufficiently about the hinge, while also continuing to move in normal action that the pressure contact member comes into contact with and then closes the switch contacts, closing the electrical circuit and resulting in a visual indication that the brushhead pressure has exceeded the maximum limit for desirable brushing pressure.
