A first source line and a second source line are arranged facing the first and second shield electrodes through an insulating layer, respectively. A first main common electrode and a second main common electrode are formed facing the first and second source lines through an insulating layer, respectively. A main pixel electrode is formed so as to locate between the first and second main common electrodes. A second substrate includes a third main common electrode and a fourth main common electrode facing the first and second main common electrodes, respectively. A liquid crystal layer is held between the first and second substrates. The first, second, third and fourth main common electrodes are set to the same electric potential.

    摘要: Solid-state image pickup device and processing method, with A/D conversion on pixel signals read from a pixel array part that effectively achieves reductions in power consumption, size and price while retaining a high-quality image output. The device includes a pixel array part, a CDS (correlated double sampling) circuit, and an A/D converter. A pixel signal read via a signal line is subjected to noise elimination processing in the CDS circuit, and is then inputted into the A/D converter. The A/D converter includes a ΔΣ modulator and a digital filter to perform highly accurate A/D conversion. The A/D converter can also be provided at the front stage of the CDS circuit.

Then, degrees of whiteness in the translucent pixels and the reflection pixels are approximated to each other.

    摘要: There are provided a method for driving a solid-state image pickup apparatus, a solid-state image pickup device and a camera which enables fast operation and makes applicable of the conventional algorithm in signal processings by reducing the number of samples in the horizontal and vertical directions. Three or more odd number pixels in the solid-state image pickup device (1) are made one block, signal charges of predetermined pixels being thinned out to be transferred to transfer registers (4, 7), resulting signal charges being added within the transfer registers (4, 7) so that the center of gravity of pixels (pixel center) may coincide with a pixel at the center of one block and resulting mixed charge being transferred.Three transfer electrodes (CR1, CR2, CR3) are provided per one column of the vertical register (4) in a part of the vertical register on the side of horizontal register (7). These three transfer electrodes (CR1, CR2, CR3) are each formed from one layer of three different gate electrode layers. The vertical registers (4) arranged in a three-column cycle constitute the solid-state image pickup device.The camera is constructed to have a switching mode of operation between a mode in which mixed charges that result from adding signal charges in predetermined pixels of one block are output and a normal mode of taking a picture.

    摘要: Systems and methods allow driving a solid-state image pickup apparatus at high-speed operation by reducing a number of different samples in the horizontal and vertical directions. In an exemplary embodiment, three or more odd-numbered pixels are incorporated into a single block and signal charges from same color outputs are added within transfer registers such that an average center of the pixels coincides with a pixel at a center of the block. Three transfer electrodes are preferably provided for a column of a vertical transfer register in a part of the vertical transfer register on a side of the horizontal transfer register. The three transfer electrodes may be formed from one layer of three different gate electrode layers. The vertical registers may be arranged in a three column cycle. Preferably, an imaging device employing this structure has a switching mode of operation between a mode in which mixed charges that result from adding signal charges of predetermined pixels from one block are output and a normal mode for outputting all pixel information.
