A plurality of wireless channels link a transmitter and a receiver, each channel corresponding to a different transmit-receive antenna pair. Channel state information is estimated for the plurality of wireless channels by grouping the plurality of channels into one or more groups, each group including the channels associated with two or more collocated transmit and/or receive antennas. A set of delay tap values is iteratively estimated in the time domain for each group of channels so that the channels included in the same group are associated with the same delay tap values. A frequency domain channel response of each of the channels included in the same group of channels is estimated based on the set of delay tap values estimated for the group.

First and second received signals are received at a communication device, the first and second received signals comprising, respectively, reference signals and data signals. Estimated channel vectors are calculated from the first received signals, and estimated data covariance matrices are calculated from the second received signals. A plurality of combining weight vectors are determined based on the estimated channel vectors and the estimated data covariance matrices. The second received signals are then combined with the plurality of combining weight vectors to obtain a plurality of combined signals, wherein interference in the second received signals has been suppressed in the plurality of combined signals.

In some embodiments, a method of operation of a network node in a wireless communication network comprises signaling, to a wireless device, an indication of one or more allocated sets of Resource Blocks (RBs) that are allocated to the wireless device by a UL grant for transmission on a UL carrier in an unlicensed frequency spectrum. The one or more allocated sets of RBs are one or more of a plurality of defined sets of RBs that correspond to a plurality of interlaces, respectively, that each spread out across an entire bandwidth of the UL carrier. In this manner, higher UL user and system performance can be obtained.

In some embodiments, a method of operation of a network node comprises configuring a wireless device for use of a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) table for uplink 256QAM separately per uplink subframe set for two or more uplink subframe sets. In some embodiments, the two or more uplink subframe sets are two or more uplink subframe sets for separate uplink power control. In this manner, 256QAM can be utilized in more subframes and, as a result, uplink data rate can be increased.

Systems and methods for flexible spectrum, or bandwidth, support in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a base station for a cellular communications network is configured to transmit a non-standardized bandwidth carrier and information that identifies a standardized bandwidth and additional information that, together with the information that identifies the standardized bandwidth, defines a non-standardized bandwidth of the non-standardized bandwidth carrier. In one embodiment, the additional information defines a bandwidth adjustment for the standardized bandwidth that defines the non-standardized bandwidth. In one embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is a symmetric bandwidth restriction. In another embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is an asymmetric bandwidth restriction. In yet another embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is a symmetric bandwidth expansion. In yet another embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is an asymmetric bandwidth expansion.
