    摘要: There is provided herein cross-linked, phosphorescent micro- and nanoparticles and applications of those particles. The invention uses halogen-containing polymers and co-polymers (HCPs) as an encapsulation matrix for organic and organometallic phosphorescent compounds to form micro- or nanoparticles. The phosphorescence of these encapsulated phosphorescent particles is substantially unaffected by phosphorescence quenchers such as oxygen and water molecules at ambient conditions. The invention provides methods of making cross-linked phosphorescent particles. HCPs may be directly cross-linked through linking moieties that are a part of the polymer, or cross-linked through other separate bridging or cross-linking materials Cross-linked particles are more stable than the non-cross-linked counterparts and more resistant to temperature, surfactants, and organic solvents.

    摘要: The invention involves encapsulation of phosphorescent molecules in polymeric matrices to prevent phosphorescence quenching. Specifically, polymers containing a significant portion of halogens have been found to be good matrices for encapsulation of phosphorescent molecules to provide strong phosphorescence at ambient conditions. Those encapsulated phosphorescent molecules can find a wide variety of applications for detection of many species, including biological and chemical molecules as well as micro-organisms.

    摘要: A two-phase electrophoretic medium comprises a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase. The discontinuous phase comprises a plurality of droplets, each of which comprises a suspending fluid and at least one particle disposed within the suspending fluid and capable of moving through the fluid upon application of an electric field to the electrophoretic medium. The continuous phase surrounds and encapsulates the discontinuous phase. To reduce the humidity sensitivity of the medium, a non-ionizable or crystalline polymer may be used as the continuous phase.

    摘要: A motor drive and a choke therefor are disclosed, wherein the choke comprises a magnetic core with an inner leg and two outer legs, and four coils, which may be connected in DC current paths in the motor drive. First and second differential coils are wound around first and second outer legs, respectively; and first and second common-mode coils are wound around the inner leg of the choke. The first and second differential coils smooth the DC current on a DC bus in the motor drive, and the first and second common-mode coils suppress common-mode voltages in the motor drive. Also disclosed is a method for suppressing common-mode voltages in a motor drive.

    摘要: A detector compares a first bit of a bit stream to a first bit of a pattern. If the first bit of the bit stream and the first bit of the pattern are the same, another detector is allowed to read a second bit of the bit stream and compare it to a second bit of the pattern. This continues until all bits of the pattern are detected. By performing the comparison as each bit of the bit stream arrives on a node, the present detectors are able to detect bit patterns in high-speed bit streams.
