Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for carrier independent signal transmission and reception. Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communication. The method includes applying, at a device, a phase correction to a first signal to compensate for a difference between a first zero tone location comprising a first frequency and a second zero tone location comprising a second frequency. The method further includes one of: transmitting the first signal after applying the phase correction; or receiving the first signal prior to applying the phase correction.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparats for remaining minimum system information (RMSI) physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring. A method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) is provided. During initial access of a cell, the UE determines a default first periodicity to monitor for at least a first PDCCH scheduling RMSI. After the initial access, the UE determines a second periodicity to monitor at least a second PDCCH scheduling RMSI based on the default first periodicity or based on an indication received in a previous RMSI from the cell. The UE monitors for at least the first PDCCH during initial access at the default first periodicity and monitors for at least the second PDCCH at the second periodicity after the initial access.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for performing a beam recovery procedure using a second CC are disclosed. A UE may perform a beam recovery procedure using two component carriers (CCs): for example, CC1 may be a beam formed millimeter wave (MMW) carrier having a beam recovery procedure and CC2 may be an assisting carrier such as a sub-6 GHz carrier. In a first example, a UE may trigger beam recovery for CC1 (on CC2), generate a beam measurement report, and transmit the beam report on resources allocated for uplink transmission on CC2. In a second example, a new scheduling request (SR) may be defined on CC1 for CC2 beam recovery. In a third example, RACH resources or procedures on CC2 may be used to perform the beam recovery for CC1.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for multiplexing new radio (NR) physical broadcast channels (NR-PBCHs) with NR synchronization signals. An exemplary method that may be performed by a wireless node includes determining a frequency offset to use in transmitting one or more synchronization signals and one or more physical broadcast channels (PBCHs) and transmitting the one or more synchronization signals, using a synchronization signal (SS) transmission band having an SS center frequency, and the one or more PBCHs, using a PBCH transmission band having a PBCH center frequency that differs from the SS center frequency by the determined frequency offset.
