Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for orthogonal multiplexing of high efficiency (HE) and extremely high throughput (EHT) wireless traffic. Devices in a wireless local area network (WLAN) may operate under HE or EHT conditions. An access point (AP) may support both HE and EHT communications with WLAN devices. To enable substantially simultaneous downlink HE and EHT transmissions and substantially simultaneous uplink HE and EHT transmissions, the AP may support orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) of HE and EHT transmissions. For example, pre-HE and pre-EHT modulated fields, HE and EHT modulated fields, and payloads may be aligned in time for the HE and EHT transmissions. The AP may ensure orthogonality for multiplexing the HE and EHT transmissions based on the alignment. In some implementations, a trigger frame may be utilized to indicate uplink transmission alignments.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for group formation and sounding for distributed multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO). Some implementations include a method of wireless communication. The method includes transmitting, from a first access point of a plurality of access points, an announcement frame for performing a beamforming procedure for a distributed transmission. The distributed transmission includes a transmission from the plurality of access points. The announcement frame includes at least one identifier of a user terminal in a different basic service set than a basic service set of the first access point. The method further includes transmitting a packet for measuring a channel. The method further includes receiving feedback information from the user terminal based on the packet for measuring the channel. The method further includes transmitting the distributed transmission using the beamforming procedure.

Abstract: Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus generally includes a first interface configured to output one first frame for transmission to solicit CSI feedback from each of one or more first wireless nodes associated with a first BSS and from each of one or more second wireless nodes associated with a second BSS, a second interface configured to obtain the CSI feedback solicited from the first and second wireless nodes, and a processing system configured to generate data frames for the first wireless nodes based on the CSI feedback solicited from the first wireless nodes, and one or more nulling frames based on the CSI feedback solicited from the second wireless nodes. The first interface is configured to simultaneously output the data frames for beamformed transmission to the first wireless nodes, and the nulling frames for beamformed transmission to the second wireless nodes.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, methods, devices and systems for including signaling regarding enhanced features of new wireless communication protocols. The signaling may be included in various portions of a physical layer preamble of a wireless transmission. In some implementations, the physical layer preamble may be used to indicate puncturing of subbands or content channels that may carry further signaling in accordance with preamble signaling designs of this disclosure. The physical layer preamble signaling be parallelized for different subchannels of a wireless channel that consists of multiple subchannels. Some implementations of the physical layer preambles may be used to multiplex different types of wireless local area network communications into different subsets of the plurality of subchannels of the wireless channel.

Abstract: Techniques for control signaling in extreme high throughput (EHT) environments are described. A message transmitted by an access point (AP) may allocate resources to a plurality of stations (STAs). The AP may be configured to allocate up to 320 MHz of total bandwidth or up to sixteen spatial streams to one or more STAs. In some multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) cases, the spatial configuration field may include a starting spatial stream field and a spatial stream number field. In some non-MU-MIMO cases, the spatial configuration field may be expanded by one bit or more. In some cases, content channels of a resource unit (RU) allocation table may span a frequency segment of 40 MHz.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for coordination between multiple access points (APs) for communications within a transmission opportunity (TxOP). A first AP may gain channel access for a TxOP, and may coordinate with at least a second AP to allow both the first AP and the second AP to transmit and receive wireless communications during the TxOP. The first AP, upon gaining channel access following a successful contention-based channel access procedure, may initiate a scheduling phase with the second AP to schedule of resources within the TxOP for the first and second APs. The first AP may initiate a multi-AP coordinated transmission phase following the scheduling phase, during which both the first AP and second AP may communicate with one or more associated STAs.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, for generating or receiving a multi-generation physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU). The multi-generation PPDU may concurrently include a first generation-specific preamble based on a first generation of a wireless communication specification (such as that defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 family of standards) and a second generation-specific preamble based on a second generation of the wireless communication specification in a same transmission. The generation-specific preambles may be generated based on bandwidth portions of a wireless channel that each generation-specific preamble will occupy in the multi-generation PPDU. One or more of the generation-specific preambles may be modified based on an aggregate bandwidth of the multi-generation PPDU. This disclosure includes several options for modifying one or more generation-specific preambles or data fields to accommodate their use in a multi-generation PPDU.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for providing channel feedback for multiple spatial streams. In some implementations, the techniques involve generating distinct channel estimates for different respective sets of orthogonal spatial streams. In some implementations, the orthogonality of the different sets of orthogonal spatial streams enables the beamformee to distinguish the spatial streams to provide the separate channel estimates. The beamformee may then determine separate correlations for the different respective sets of spatial streams. In some implementations, the beamformee combines the correlations to determine an average correlation for each of a number of sets of frequency tones. The beamformee may then perform an eigenvalue decomposition on a tone-by-tone basis based on the respective average correlation and the channel estimate obtained for the tone. Because the eigenvalue decomposition may be performed on each of the two sets of spatial streams separately, the complexity involved with performing each eigenvalue decomposition is greatly reduced.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for control signaling in next generation wireless local area network (WLAN) environments. A message transmitted by an access point may allocate resources to a plurality of stations. The access point may be configured to allocate up to 320 MHz of total bandwidth along with coarse punctures. The access point may also allocate up to eight space-time streams to each station in a multi-user multiple-input multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmission, and support simultaneous transmission to up to sixteen stations. To support 320 MHz bandwidth and up to sixteen stations, one or more signaling fields used in other environments may be repurposed to effectively signal the additional resources available in a next generation WLAN.
