Abstract: Frequency division multiplex (FDM) random access configuration and selection is disclosed for new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) operations. For idle mode user equipment (UEs), the network may configured multiple frequency bands for random access. The UE may then select different frequencies for random access when default frequencies experience interference. For connected mode UEs, the network may configured which of multiple configured frequency bands the connected UE may use for autonomous random access transmissions. The UE may then select any of the allowed frequency bands for autonomous random access. Contention-free random access resources may be configured on one or more of the multiple configured frequency bands. When contention-free resources are available, the UEs may initially attempt access of the contention-free resources on the default frequency band before attempting random access on other configured bands or the UE is provided a priority of bands for access by the network.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is configured to use a two-step random access channel (RACH) procedure. The two-step RACH procedure may include an uplink request message and a downlink response. The UE may transmit the uplink request message as part of the two-step RACH procedure, and the uplink request message may include a preamble portion that is one of a set of predefined sequences and a payload portion that includes a physical uplink shared channel waveform. The UE may receive the downlink response as part of the two-step RACH procedure and in response to the uplink request message.

Abstract: Enhancements to slot format indicator (SFI) for new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) operations is disclosed. The COT range indication identifies parameters of a three-segment structure of a current COT within the current TxOP. Upon receiving the SFI and COT range indication, a UE may engage in communications with the serving UE in accordance with the COT range indication and the SFI.

A location of the paging occasion may be based at least in part on at least one synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted by the base station. A mapping between a paging occasion index and the location of the paging occasion is indicated in the paging configuration. Paging windows may be configured during downlink slots that contain an SSB transmission. Paging transmissions may use beamforming parameters that are the same as SSB transmission beamforming parameters.

Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein permit a user equipment (UE) to start a discontinuous reception (DRX) inactivity timer based at least in part on a data communication (e.g., a slot in which a downlink data communication and/or an uplink data communication is scheduled), rather than starting the DRX inactivity timer in a slot in which a corresponding downlink control channel communication is received. In this way, the UE may increase the duration of time that the UE is in a sleep state, especially when the data communication is scheduled to occur with a long delay after the downlink control channel communication, thereby conserving battery power of the UE. Some of these techniques and apparatuses may be flexibly configured to conserve battery power of the UE depending on a flexible scheduling of data communications.
