The method includes detecting a state of a foldable display unit, being in a folded state when the device is folded and being in an unfolded state when the device is unfolded, the foldable display unit being divided into first, second and third areas; deactivating touch sensor units of the first and second areas and activating a touch sensor unit of the third area, if the foldable display unit is in the folded state, or deactivating the touch sensor unit of the first area and activating the touch sensor units of the second and third area, if the foldable display unit is in the unfolded state; and changing a width of the second area in proportion to a gripped area by a user.

A portable device and a visual sensation detecting alarm control method thereof are disclosed. The portable device includes a display unit to display visual information including a visual alarm interface, a gaze detection unit to acquire a front image of the portable device, a vibration motor unit to generate a tactile feedback, a sound unit to generate an acoustic alarm, and a controller to control the display unit, the gaze detection unit, the vibration motor unit, and the sound unit. In a case in which an event necessary to provide notification is generated, the controller determines whether a user gazes at the portable device using the acquired image.

According to one embodiment disclosed to achieve the aforementioned object, the present specification provides a method of controlling a portable device including the steps of if the portable device is a first mode to lock the portable device, detecting an unlocking triggering signal, if the unlocking triggering signal is detected, converting the portable device to a second mode to display an unlocking interface in the expandable display, if a touch input signal for the unlocking interface is detected when the portable device is the second mode, recognizing a touch input pattern from the detected touch input, displaying the unlocking interface by reflecting to the touch input pattern and if the touch input pattern is matched with a pre-set pattern, converting the portable device to a third mode to unlock the portable device, and if the expandable display expands when the portable device is the second mode, displaying the unlocking interface by reflecting to an expansion of the expandable display and if a degree of expansion of the expandable display is greater than a threshold, converting the portable device to the third mode.

An apparatus and method of providing a user interface (UI) on head mounted display and the head mounted display (HMD) thereof are discussed. The apparatus includes a sensor unit configured to detect whether an object exits in the proximity of the HMD and if the object is detected, sense a distance between the object and the HMD, and a processor configured to apply a physical User Interface (UI) mode if the detected object is within a predetermined distance from the HMD. The physical UI mode provides a display for a virtual object. The processor is configured to adjust a display distance of the virtual object, when the virtual object is a 3-dimensional (3D) object and the 3D object includes a touch recognition surface, in order for the touch recognition surface to coincide with a surface of the object, and display the virtual object based on the adjusted display distance.

A bended display device according to the present specification comprises: a bended display which has a main region toward the front side of the device and a sub-region extending from the main region and having a predetermined curvature, and is capable of receiving input through a user's contact; and a control unit for controlling a function of the device, wherein the control unit can control so that when a user's first input for an icon of the application displayed on the sub-region is received through the bended display, the icon is transformed into a preset form of an image and is displayed on the sub-region, and when a user's second input for the image is received through the bended display, a function corresponding to the second input among the functions of the application can be performed.

Disclosed are a display device for displaying multiple applications on a flexible display and a method for controlling the display device. The display device according to the present specification comprises a main display and a flexible display. When the flexible display is unrolled, the size of a first application execution screen is determined by the unrolled length. When the flexible display is further unrolled thereafter, a second application execution screen is displayed along with the first application execution screen on the flexible display. Here, the second application execution screen is displayed on the portion by which the flexible display has been increased and can be displayed on the part adjacent to the first application execution screen. According to the present specification, the size of an application execution screen can be determined according to the intent of a user.

Disclosed in the present specification are a foldable display device for displaying interconnected first and second contents respectively in a first display region and a second display region which are physically and visually separated by the folding of a housing part, and a method for controlling the same. The foldable display device according to the present invention is capable of further displaying a second content connected with a first content in a second display region facing the same direction as a first display region when the housing part is converted from a completely folded state to a half unfolded state during a period of displaying the first content in the first display region of at least two display regions which are physically or visually separated by the folding of the housing part in a state where the housing part is completely folded. The present specification allows a user to simultaneously identify the first content displayed in the first display region and the second content displayed in the second display region in the second state. Accordingly, the user can conveniently simultaneously compare at least two interconnected contents.
