Abstract: An optical waveguide includes: a plurality of linear portions arranged in parallel to each other; a plurality of arcuate portions, in the folded portion of the optical waveguide, concentrically arranged about a predetermined center position as a center on the substrate at intervals narrower than intervals between the plurality of linear portions, each of the arcuate portions having a central angle that increases as each of the arcuate portions is closer to the center position; and a plurality of connecting portions respectively connecting the plurality of linear portions and the plurality of arcuate portions, at least one group of the connecting portions bending in a direction opposite to a direction where each of the arcuate portions bends.

Abstract: An optical transmission device includes a substrate, a waveguide, a signal wire, a ground wire, and a first stub wire. The waveguide is provided on the substrate and transmits an optical signal. The signal wire and the ground wire are disposed on the substrate along the waveguide and include, at end portions, bonding portions electrically connected to an external substrate by wires. The first stub wires are connected to the end portions of the ground wires. The distance between the signal wire and the first stub wire is shorter than the distance between the signal wire and the ground wire.

Abstract: An optical device has a photonic IC having a modulator block and a photodetector block for transmitting and receiving optical signals via multiple channels, and a wiring board to transmit and receive electrical signals to and from the photonic IC, multiple electrical wirings formed on the wiring board being associated with the multiple channels, wherein the photonic IC has a first optical waveguide set extending from an output end of the modulator block to an output port of the photonic IC and a second optical waveguide set extending from an input port of the photonic IC to an input end of the photodetector block, the optical waveguides are arranged in the shortest paths for the respective channels in the first and the second optical waveguide sets, and the lengths of the electrical wirings are set so as to compensate for a difference in optical waveguide length among the channels.

Abstract: A wavelength tunable light source has a light source, a wavelength monitor circuit that receives a portion of light emitted from the light source, and a processor that controls a wavelength of the light emitted from the light source based upon an output value of the wavelength monitor circuit, wherein the wavelength monitor circuit has a wavelength filter that outputs four light components with optical phases shifted by 90 degrees from one another and multiple photo detectors that detects the four light components output from the wavelength filter, and wherein the processor selects at least one of the four light components, calculates a ratio of a monitor value of the selected light component to a total sum of monitor values of the four light components, and adjusts the wavelength of the light source so as to bring the ratio to be closer to a target ratio at a designated wavelength.

Abstract: An optical module includes a package, a substrate, a lead pin, and a ground pattern.
