    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A method may include receiving, from a base station, a pre-grant message indicating that a downlink transmission is available for transmission to a user equipment (UE) on a first radio frequency (RF) spectrum band, and performing a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure. The UE may then transmit, based on the LBT procedure indicating a clear channel, a channel reservation signal on a second RF spectrum band, and transmit, to the base station, a response to the pre-grant message on the second RF spectrum band. Another method may include a base station transmitting a pre-grant message to the UE, and receiving a response to the pre-grant message on a second RF spectrum band. The base station may then transmit the downlink transmission to the UE using one or more of a set of transmit beams on a first RF spectrum band.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine a control resource set configuration for transmissions using a single carrier waveform. The control resource set configuration may include one or more pilot regions and one or more control channel regions. The UE may monitor one or more of the pilot signal regions to identify pilot signals based at least in part on the control resource set configuration, and decode one or more control signals in the control channel regions based at least in part on the pilot signals. The control signals may be included in a control channel region associated with the pilot signal region or in a shared control channel region.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for determining a time to stop monitoring a wireless channel for paging information. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may identify a plurality of paging occasions associated with a wireless channel (e.g., of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band) and monitor the wireless channel for paging information from a base station during a first paging occasion of the plurality of paging occasions. The UE may determine a channel occupancy status of the base station with respect to the wireless channel and may determine a time to stop monitoring the wireless channel for paging information. The UE may ignore a remainder of the plurality of paging occasions based on the determined time to stop monitoring the wireless channel.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for wireless communication. In one aspect, a multi-transmit-receive point (TRP) approach for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) acknowledgment (ACK) feedback using counter downlink assignment indicators (DAIs) (cDAIs) and total DAIs (tDAIs) is provided. For example, some techniques and apparatuses described herein may provide a joint counting method in which cDAIs and tDAIs are implemented and tracked jointly between the TRPs of a multi-TRP group. This may be useful in the ideal backhaul scenario when the multi-TRP group is jointly scheduled, and may be more robust against errors than a separate counting method. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein may provide a separate counting method, in which cDAIs and tDAIs are implemented and tracked separately by the respective TRPs of a multi-TRP group.

    Abstract: Techniques and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for staggering sounding reference signal (SRS) transmissions in frequency across multiple orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, which may allow multiple UEs to transmit SRS using a common listen-before-talk (LBT) gap for a LBT procedure. The techniques also provide for transmitting an SRS across multiple OFDM symbols using same frequency resources, and an orthogonal cover code (OCC) may be applied to the SRS transmission of each OFDM symbol, which may allow multiple UEs to transmit concurrent SRS using a common LBT gap.

    Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, devices, and systems for techniques related to random access channel (RACH) operation. A user equipment (UE) may establish a connection with a base station using a random access procedure. Based on a transmission priority or a network parameter, the random access procedure may be a two-step random access procedure or a four-step random access procedure. The described techniques may support physical layer procedures, including resource configurations and communication schemes that may support enhanced signaling capacity. In some examples, the described techniques may include signaling characteristics and resource mappings for two-step random access procedure based on a transmission priority. In other examples, the described techniques may include antenna techniques associated with a four-step random access procedure. The physical layer procedures may include features for improved data rates, increased spectral efficiency and, in some examples, may promote low latency communication associated with random access, among other advantages.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may operate in a multi-transmission/reception point (TRP) mode, where the multi-TRP mode includes monitoring a plurality of control channels and where each of the plurality of control channels may be associated with a TRP. The UE may operate in a first control channel monitoring state of the multi-TRP mode, where the UE may be configured to monitor a first control channel of a first TRP. The UE may identify an indication to switch from the first control channel monitoring state to a second control channel monitoring state of the multi-TRP mode. The UE may switch, based on the indication, to the second control channel monitoring state, where the UE may be configured to monitor the first control channel of the first TRP and monitor a second control channel of the second TRP.
