    Abstract: Coverage enhancement of an eMTC system may be limited if an MTC device switches from transmission mode to reception mode using subframes that may be utilized for transmissions or receptions. The present disclosure provides a mechanism by which a device may determine a set of valid subframes for use in communicating via a backhaul link, an access link, and/or a direct link. The present disclosure also provides a mechanism by which a device may switch between different communication link operations using subframes unavailable for transmitting and/or receiving data. The apparatus may receive repetition configuration information from a base station in direct communication with a UE. The apparatus may determine whether the base station is a relay node. The apparatus may determine a repetition configuration for communication between the base station and the UE based at least on the repetition configuration information and whether the base station is a relay node.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for shortened transmission time interval (TTI) configuration based on user equipment (UE) capabilities. A UE may determine, for each of one or more supported bands or band combinations, a capability of the UE to process transmissions having a first transmission time interval (TTI) duration and a second TTI duration, the first TTI duration being shorter than the second TTI duration. The UE may transmit to a base station an indicator representing the capability for the each of the one or more supported bands or band combinations. The base station may receive the indicator, schedule a component carrier within a frequency band of a first supported band combination of the one or more supported band combinations based at least in part on the received indicator, and transmit information within the frequency band of the component carrier based on the scheduling.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit downlink control information (DCI) to a user equipment (UE) indicating a joint field for at least a first component carrier (CC) and a second CC of a carrier aggregation configuration. For example, the joint field may include a rate matching (RM) indication for the first CC and the second CC, a zero power channel state information reference signal (ZP-CSI-RS) indication for the first CC and the second CC, or both. In some cases, the RM indication may include a common RM resource (RMR) configuration applicable for both the first CC and the second CC or per-CC RMR configurations that indicate separate RMRs for each of the CCs. Additionally, the ZP-CSI-RS indication may include a set identifier that indicates a resource set for ZP-CSI-RS resources for both the first CC and the second CC.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a connection, with base station, over a first and second component carrier and may monitor a search space configured for scheduling multiple component carriers. In some cases, the UE may be configured to monitor a search space allocated for a virtual component carrier associated with scheduling multiple component carriers, or the UE may be configured to monitor for a subset of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates in search spaces associated with the first and second component carriers, where the subset of PDCCH candidates may be allocated for multi-component carrier scheduling. The UE may receive downlink control information (DCI) that schedules a set of data transmissions over the first and second component carriers and the UE may perform or receive the set of data transmissions over the first and second component carrier.

    Abstract: Techniques for signaling varied modulation and coding schemes for wireless communication are discussed. A method of wireless communication may comprise receiving, by a user equipment (UE), an indication to apply a modulation order cap to determine a first modulation and coding scheme for transmission of uplink control information different from a second modulation and coding scheme for transmission of data. The method may further comprise transmitting the uplink control information using the first modulation and coding scheme, wherein the first modulation and coding scheme is determined based, at least in part, on the received indication to apply the modulation order cap.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving an indication of at least one receive capability of a network access device; transmitting a first message of a random access channel (RACH) procedure; receiving a random access response (RAR) message in response to transmitting the first message; and interpreting the RAR message according to a format based at least in part on the received indication. A method for wireless communication at a network access device includes transmitting an indication of at least one receive capability of the network access device; receiving, from a UE, a first message of a RACH procedure; and transmitting a RAR message to the UE in response to receiving the first message.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for reporting a first and second stage of feedback for multiple physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) to reduce latency and improve reliability. The first stage of feedback may include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for all PDSCHs or each PDSCH, and the second stage of feedback may include channel state information (CSI) feedback for all PDSCHs or each PDSCH. A user equipment (UE) may transmit the first and second stages of feedback in a single physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or multiple PUCCHs (e.g., a PUCCH corresponding to each PDSCH). In some cases, the UE may report the HARQ and CSI feedback based on whether the PDSCHs include the same or different transport blocks or whether the PDSCHs are transmitted with the same or different transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states.
