Abstract: An object can be made one section at a time, that is layerwise, using an apparatus for making an object using a stereolithographic method. In a step of the stereolithographic method, a layer of a material used for making the object may be solidified in the shape of a section of the object. Disclosed herein is an apparatus for making a stereolithographic object. Also disclosed herein is a method for making a stereolithographic object.

Abstract: It has been established that optimizing cell seeding onto tissue engineering vascular grafts (TEVG) is associated with reduced inflammatory responses and reduced post-operative stenosis of TEVG. Cell seeding increased TEVG patency in a dose dependent manner, and TEVG patency improved when more cells were seeded, however duration of incubation time showed minimal effect on TEVG patency. Methods of engineering patient specific TEVG including optimal numbers of cells to maintain graft patency and reduce post-operative stenosis are provided. Closed, single-use customizable systems for seeding TEVG are also provided. Preferably the systems are custom-designed based on morphology of the patient specific graft, to enhance the efficacy of cell seeding.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method of making an orthodontic article. The method includes (a) providing a photopolymerizable composition; (b) selectively curing the photopolymerizable composition using actinic radiation to form an article in the shape of an orthodontic article including a number of layers of at least one photopolymerized polymer; and (c) moving the article and thereby generating a mass inertial force in the uncured photopolymerizable composition. The article has a first surface, and no more than 75% of the first surface has a slope magnitude greater than 2.5 degrees. Orthodontic articles are also provided, including an orthodontic article that is prepared according to the method. Orthodontic articles having low extractable component content are further provided. The mass inertial force tends to form a coating layer of uncured photopolymerizable composition on the article, and curing the coating layer can form a surface having low slope magnitude. The low slope magnitude may be correlated to a low haze of the surface of the article.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for 3D printing thermally curable polymeric inks and their composites for scaffolds or devices. In this method, an extrusion based direct ink writing printing technology was used. The method includes an in-situ curing process and print layer height adjustment steps after each print layer to compensate for shrinkage during a thermal treatment step.

Abstract: A print head, system and method for producing hollow fiber structures, for example three-dimensional biological structures comprising living cells, includes a dispensing channel, a core channel converging with the proximal end of the dispensing channel, a first shell channel converging with the core channel and the dispensing channel at a focusing intersection or chamber, and a sheath flow channel converging with the dispensing channel at a sheath flow intersection or chamber located between the focusing intersection or chamber and the distal end of the dispensing channel. The diameter of the dispensing channel increases from a first diameter to a second diameter at the sheath flow intersection or chamber, and the core channel has a third diameter less than the first and second diameters. The sheath flow channel includes sheath flow sub-channels and the focusing chamber has a conical frustum shape.
