Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a guard plate (10) for a blade set (100) for a hair cutting appliance, the guard plate comprising a skin-facing side (12) and an opposing blade-facing side; a plurality of close-cutting trimming teeth (16) distributed in a longitudinal direction along an edge (18) of the guard plate, each tooth extending from the edge of the guard plate to a respective tip (20), the close-cutting trimming teeth having a thickness of less than (120) microns; a raised section (22) comprising a curved shape in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction such that it is raised from the teeth towards the skin-facing side of the guard plate, wherein the curved shape of the raised section does not extend beyond a (30)-degree envelope defined by a line passing through the mg edge of the guard plate and offset from a tangent at the edge of the guard plate by (30) degrees; a pressure relenting zone (30) between the teeth and the raised section defining a continuous surface, wherein there is a transition (32) between the pressure relenting zone and the raised section such that, when the guard plate is passed over a user's taut skin, the skin does not directly follow the contours of the transition thereby locally reducing pressure from the skin; wherein a plurality of apertures (48) are distributed on the raised section at least within a pressure restoring zone (36) of the raised section, the pressure restoring zone being defined between a rising point and a tangent point, wherein the rising point is where a perpendicular distance from the skin-facing surface of the guard plate to a pressure relenting line peaks, wherein the pressure relenting line is defined by a tangent of the raised section in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the tangent passing through the edge of the guard plate, and wherein the tangent point is on the raised section at the tangent of the pressure relenting line.

Abstract: A haircutter handle has upper and lower housings. The upper housing and lower housing join to form a circumvoluted and/or spiraled exterior surface. The handle narrows and extends axially from a blade end to a handle or gripping end. The blade has an upper blade that oscillates over the lower blade to cut hair. The handle has a reduction taper that facilitates gripping and/or handling the handle. The taper also orients the motor and battery so that the center of gravity is positioned within the palm of the user's hand when gripping the handle. The blade end of the handle has a width and/or height that are greater than a width and/or height at the handle end. The reduction in height and/or width dimensions define a taper. In some embodiments, the width tapers more than the height tapers to facilitate gripping the handle about the center of gravity.

Abstract: Provided is a cutting assembly (100) for cutting hairs on skin. The cutting assembly comprises a guard plate (102) for contacting the skin. The guard plate has a first toothed edge (104A) which extends along an axis. The first toothed edge comprises guard teeth (106A). The cutting assembly further comprises a cutter plate (108) which is disposed on the guard plate. The cutter plate is slidable relative to the guard plate in directions parallel with the axis. The cutter plate comprises a second toothed edge (110A) extending parallel with the axis. The second toothed edge comprises cutting teeth (112A). The cutter plate and the guard plate are aligned such that the hairs are cut by the cutting teeth against the guard teeth when the cutter plate slides. The cutting teeth each include a cutting portion (114A) and a tip (116A). The tip is outwardly enlarged relative to the cutting portion in at least one direction parallel with the axis. The minimum space between adjacent tips is less than the minimum space between adjacent guard teeth. The tip thereby maintains overlap with at least one of the guard teeth during sliding of the cutter plate relative to the guard plate. Further provided is a trimmer including the cutting assembly.

Abstract: An oscillating motor and electric clippers. The oscillating motor includes a U-shaped magnetic yoke, four permanent magnets and a swing arm. The U-shaped magnetic yoke causes end faces of two support legs to produce alternating magnetic poles with the control circuit. The four permanent magnets are fixedly mounted to an inner arm via a second magnetic yoke. The four permanent magnets are sequentially distributed on a same circumferential surface having a fulcrum being a centre of rotation. The polarities of radial end faces of the first permanent magnet and the fourth permanent magnet are the same. The polarities of radial end faces of the second permanent magnet and the third permanent magnet are the same, and the opposite of the polarity of the radial end face of the first permanent magnet. When a coil is electrified, the four permanent magnets produce torque having the same direction of rotation.
