Abstract: Various embodiments provide a system for modifying a channel binding in order to relay packets between a relay client and a peer in a peer-to-peer (P2P) communication event across a network. A relay server receives a request to bind a channel in order to relay the packets for the communication event. The relay server creates requirements for a communication path. The relay server sends the requirements to a Software Defined Networking (SDN) controller. The SDN controller in turn creates and installs flows and flow tables in SDN switches to relay the packets across the network for the communication event.

Abstract: System and method for supporting a flexible framework for extendable SMA attributes in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, an information attribute can provide for enhancements in a number of areas. For example, in addition to indicating which version of an interface a queried node supports, the information attribute can additionally provide a mask indicating which vendor specific SMA attributes the node supports. In this way, a subnet manager can identify a version of an interface at each node in a subnet, as well as each node's SMA attribute capabilities. In turn, this allows nodes to run different versions of an interface within a same subnet, without introducing confusion.

Abstract: System and method for supporting scalable representation of link stability and availability in a high performance computing environment. A method can provide at attribute at each node in a subnet, wherein the attribute provides a single location at each node for a subnet manager to query the stability and availability of each link connected to the queried node. The attribute can be populated and maintained by a subnet management agent residing at the node.

Abstract: Systems and methods for supporting unique multicast forwarding across multiple connected subnets in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, by enforcing that incoming (i.e., incoming on a router port of a subnet) multicast packets have SGIDs (source global identifiers) that correspond to a restricted set of source subnet numbers when entering the ingress router ports to a local subnet, it is possible to ensure that multicast packets sent from one subnet are never returned to the same subnet through a different set of connected router ports (i.e., avoid looping multicast packets).

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system for implementing a logical network that includes a set of end machines, a first logical middlebox, and a second logical middlebox connected by a set of logical forwarding elements. The system includes a set of nodes. Each of several nodes includes (i) a virtual machine for implementing an end machine of the logical network, (ii) a managed switching element for implementing the set of logical forwarding elements of the logical network, and (iii) a middlebox element for implementing the first logical middlebox of the logical network. The system includes a physical middlebox appliance for implementing the second logical middlebox.

Abstract: A method for communication includes providing multiple chassis. Each chassis includes a plurality of slots, which are arranged in at least an outer tier and a middle tier, and which are configured for insertion therein of respective switches. In at least a first chassis among the multiple chassis, first internal interconnects are connected between the slots in the middle tier and the slots in the outer tier, so as to connect each of the slots in the middle tier to multiple slots in the outer tier. In at least a second chassis among the multiple chassis, second internal interconnects are connected directly between the slots in the outer tier. External interconnects are connected between at least some of the slots in the outer tier of the first chassis and at least some of the slots in the outer tier of the second chassis in order to define a network.

Abstract: One exemplary embodiment is directed to an inter-networking device that performs at least one inter-networking function using physical layer information about the network of which the device is a part. Another exemplary embodiment is directed to capturing physical layer information about physical communication media that is attached to an inter-networking device. Another exemplary embodiment is directed to a technique for generating a spanning tree and/or forwarding database information for a plurality of switches in a network at a central location. The spanning tree and/or forwarding database information is generated at the central location using information including physical layer information about devices and physical communication media in the network. Another exemplary embodiment is directed to an ETHERNET physical layer device having integrated support for capturing physical layer information about the physical communication media connected to the ETHERNET physical layer device.

Abstract: A method and system is implemented in a network node that functions as a controller for a domain in a split architecture network. The domain comprises a plurality of flow switches, where the plurality of flow switches implement a data plane for the split architecture network and the controller implements a control plane for the split architecture network that is remote from the data plane. The method and system configure the plurality of flow switches to efficiently handle each type of broadcast packet in the domain of the split architecture network without flooding the domain with the broadcast packets to thereby reduce a number of broadcast packets forwarded within the domain.

Abstract: A multi-tenant system is realized by the Tunneling protocol. The multi-tenant system includes a server apparatus on which a virtual machine with tenant identification data operates; an equipment whose tenant identification data cannot be recognized; a plurality of switches configured to transfer a packet based on flow entries; and a controller configured to set the flow entries to the switches. The plurality of switches includes a first switch connected with the server apparatus and a second switch connected with the equipment. The second switch rewrites the header of the packet sent from and received by the equipment based on an address translation table. Thus, the equipment becomes available.
