The method includes determining a first attitude matrix gradient using data from at least one of an accelerometer and a magnetometer, determining a second attitude matrix gradient using data from a gyroscope, fusing the first attitude matrix gradient and the second attitude matrix gradient based on a mixing coefficient to generate a fused gradient, and based on the fused gradient, updating a fine attitude matrix for the portable electronic device.
Abstract:
A system for selectively communicating promotional information to a person, includes a sensing system, a storage device, a controller, and a projection device. The sensing system measures a detectable feature associated with the person sensed by the sensing system and the storage device stores a plurality of promotional segments. The controller uses the measured detectable feature associated with the person for selecting one of the stored promotional segments and causing the projection device to project to the person at the predetermined location the selected promotional segment.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for machining flat workpieces in a double-sided machining tool, which has an upper and a lower work disk, wherein at least one of the work disks is rotatingly driven and the work disks each have an annular work surface, wherein the work surfaces amongst themselves limit an also annular work gap, in which at least one carrier is located, which guides at least one workpiece in the work gap, so that the at least one workpiece is machined in a double-sided manner between the work surfaces. The distance between the work disks is measured at least two radially spaced measurement locations of the work gap and in that, from the measured distances, a distance between the work disks is determined at a location of the work gap representing the thickness of the at least one workpiece machined in the work gap.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of micro- and nanotechnologies. In these techniques, it is sometimes necessary to glue several structures face to face and it is important to be able to check the alignment of the structures. A new method for measuring alignment, which comprises the following operations, is proposed for this purpose: activation of a heating element placed on the surface of the first structure, generation of electronic signals representative of a distribution of temperatures, on the basis of an array of temperature sensitive elements placed on the surface of the second structure, determination of a relative position of the heating element with respect to the array of sensitive elements, therefore of the first structure with respect to the second, on the basis of the distribution of temperatures, in a calculation circuit receiving the electronic signals engendered in the array of sensitive elements.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of evaluating the play between two threaded components, a first component comprising an internal thread, and a second component comprising an external thread that corresponds to the internal thread of the first component, the components are engaged with each other the method comprising the steps of: applying a torque from a motor to said components such that a first side of the internal thread is in contact with an opposing first side of the external thread wherein the two components are mutually rotated, which mutual rotation yields a mutual translation movement of the two threaded components; fixing the components with respect to each other, such that no mutual translation movement is allowed, whereas mutual rotation is still allowed; withholding the applied torque to one of said components, until a second side of the internal thread is in contact with an opposing second side of the external thread, monitoring the applied torque during the above steps by determining the power input to the motor and the rotational speed of the motor in order to identify a first point in time when the first side of the internal tread loses contact with the opposing first side of the external tread and a second point in time when the second side of the internal tread meets the opposing second side of external tread, calculating from the identification of the first and second points in time a play (a) between the internal tread and the external tread evaluating the play (a) by comparing the play (a) with a reference play. The invention further relates to an evaluation system for evaluating the play between the two threaded components.

Abstract:
In a method for determining road clearance of a vehicle, the vehicle is moved relative to a measurement configuration with a reference surface. One or more magnets, which are disposed on the vehicle and assigned preferably each to a defined measurement point on the vehicle, is detected by at least one device for magnetic field measurement. With the help of at least one device for separation measurement, the separation between the measurement configuration and the bottom side of the vehicle is determined. In this way, a rapid, reliable, repeatable and flexibly usable method for the determination of the road clearance of a vehicle is provided. A corresponding device is provided for implementing the method.

Abstract:
A dynamic motion and distance measuring device for estimating and measuring speed and distance covered by a subject engaged in an athletic endeavor and more particularly to measuring and estimating the speed and distance and providing a relative indication of a measured speed and distance to an optimal speed and distance and/or time including finish time of the subject engaged in an athletic event, even where the event is occurring in changing environment or terrain conditions where remote data collection and signal reception is inconsistent and variable.
Abstract:
A measuring apparatus includes a workbench including a fixing board, four trigger units, a sliding member, a positioning unit for fixing an article, an electrical controlling cage, and an indicating member electrically connected to the trigger units. The sliding member includes a receiving body defining a guiding hole, and distal ends of the trigger units are received in the guiding hole. The fixing board, the indicating member and the trigger units are electrically connected to the electrical controlling cage. The electrical controlling cage is turned on, and the article is passed through the guiding hole. If any trigger unit cannot be triggered to turn on the corresponding indicating member, the portion to be measured of the article is qualified; if any trigger unit is triggered to turn on the corresponding indicating member, the portion to be measured on the article is disqualified.
