    摘要: The invention relates to a wedging arrangement to plug a blast hole accommodating an explosive charge. The wedging arrangement comprises a body comprising a first part and a second part arranged to angularly slide relative to each other. Each of the first and second parts defines a holding arrangement for holding the first and second parts relative to each other. The wedging arrangement is configurable between a default configuration in which the holding arrangement holds the first and second parts relative to each other, and a stressed configuration in which the body is subjected to external stress forces thereby causing the holding arrangement to be disengaged to allow the first and second parts to angularly slide relative to each other, in use to locate and lock the wedging arrangement in place within the blast hole in order to plug the blast hole and contain the blast energy resulting from the explosive charge being detonated.

    摘要: The invention relates to the field of drilling and blasting operations, and more particularly to confining gaseous explosion products in a charge cavity, and can be used in rock blasting using borehole charges. The technical result of the invention is that of reducing the specific charge of explosive per cubic metre of blasted rock mass, increasing the fragmentation of the rock mass, making it possible for explosive to be loaded into and work effectively in a borehole with excess water pressure (flooded boreholes), providing ease of use and structural simplicity, providing ease of transportation and storage since the device can be dismantled to compact dimensions, and reducing the weight of the structure. A further technical result is the possibility of using devices of a single type in boreholes of different lengths and types (flooded or non-flooded), thus making it possible for the claimed device to be used as a universal device for all types of boreholes. The above-mentioned technical result is achieved in that the claimed borehole plugging device, which is made of a pliable polymer material and has elements with a shape, the outside diameter of which is commensurate with the diameter of a borehole, and an axial internal cavity, is characterized in that it consists of a rod with a cruciform cross section, having identical dome-shaped, slotted elements fixably mounted thereon from each end.

    摘要: Wells are sealed by means of thermite reaction charges inserted into the wells. The reaction charge can be diluted by addition of metal oxides, silica, or the like control reaction pressure, peak temperature, reaction rate, and expansion characteristics of the resulting thermite plug. The use of dilution of the thermite reactants can take the form of a thermite charge with specific layers, including relatively high and low reaction temperature layers. The ignition source can be oriented to achieve directional control on the product expansion including radial or axial expansion. The charge can be loaded with a large mass to compress the resulting thermite plug into the borehole wall and reduce its porosity during the reaction process. A further variation involves continuous feed of the thermite reactants to the reaction zone. Various combinations and permutations of the above inventive concepts are described.

    摘要: Apparatus for plugging a hole, such as a bore hole used in blasting, comprises a platform shaped to fit within the hole and to support material such as explosives or stemming at a desired depth in the hole. The platform takes the form of a plate or tray which is generally ellipsoidal in shape so that it fits snugly within the hole when inclined transversely relative to a longitudinal axis of the hole. The plate has a central load support region and a peripheral region for engaging the wall of the hole. The apparatus includes a locking member, typically a length of rigid pipe, attached movably to the platform. The locking member is moveable between a first position in which it is supported clear of the wall of the hole below the platform, and a second position in which it spans the hole to lock the platform in position in the hole. An elongated actuating member in the form of a cord or line is connected to the locking member and platform for lowering the apparatus into the hole and for moving the locking member between its first and second positions.

    摘要: A stemming plug constructed from a durable, resilient material and comprising a circumferential wall defining an inner cavity, an end wall at the first end and an open second end. In the preferred embodiment, the circumferential wall is fluted so that it can easily compress and seat in a borehole while maintaining a snug friction fit. The plug is inserted in the borehole over the explosive charge. Stemming material, preferably rock, is placed on top of the plug. The stemming material covers the top and slides down around the circumferential wall and is lodged between the circumferential wall and the borehole. Upon explosion, the blast energy is forced into the inner cavity causing the circumferential wall to expand outwardly and thereby engaging the stemming material and the borehole wall to secure the plug in place. The stemming material can also be placed inside the plug, with blast energy inverting the plug end wall to wedge stemming material within the borehole.
