    摘要: Surgical tools having a two degree-of-freedom wrist, wrist articulation by linked tension members, mechanisms for transmitting torque through an angle, and minimally invasive surgical tools incorporating these features are disclosed. An elongate intermediate wrist member is pivotally coupled with a distal end of an instrument shaft so as to rotate about a first axis transverse to the shaft, and an end effector body is pivotally coupled with the intermediate member so as to rotate about a second axis that is transverse to the first axis. Linked tension members interact with attachment features to articulate the wrist. A torque-transmitting mechanism includes a coupling member, coupling pins, a drive shaft, and a driven shaft. The drive shaft is coupled with the driven shaft so as to control the relative orientations of the drive shaft, the coupling member, and the driven shaft.

The universal coupling also aims to increase the angle between input and output shafts over conventional double Cardan joints while maintaining constant velocity or near constant velocity therebetween. The universal coupling can employ a Sarrus type linkage in-between two universal joints of the Cardan type in a configuration that aims to achieve joint angles up to and including 90 degrees in the Y-Z plane, while maintaining constant velocity or near constant velocity therebetween.

    摘要: In a universal joint, a connector member with jacket connects joint halves, each having a ball joint with first connection to the connector member; shaft with eccentric arm; and inner piece with first and second orthogonal axes. A second connection, rotary around the first axis, connects eccentric arm and inner piece. Shaft axis and first axis extend orthogonally. The ball joint has third connection to the shaft rotary around the shaft axis. Fourth connection, rotary around the second axis, connects inner piece and connector member. The first connection is rotary around an axis orthogonal to the second axis and in a common plane with the first axis. A pivot point of the ball joint is offset to the rotary axis of the first connection and the shaft axis. The inner piece extends through first or a second opening of the jacket. The fourth connection is placed within the jacket.
