    摘要: The invention provides a resiliently deformable construction element covering (10) which permits a structure constructed using said covering to deform in sympathy with weather and other natural forces and to recover to substantially to its original state. The covering (10) includes a resiliently deformable film (12) having at least a portion (46) extending beyond the surface of the construction element (40) onto which the film is to be applied thereby to a define a flap (46) which overlaps onto an adjacent construction element, and an adhesive (16) for applying the film (12) to the construction element. The covering (10) also includes a coating composition or system (22) capable of being applied to the film and of dissipating, most of any decorative damage over an area around a stressed area of the film which is causing the decorative damage thereby to form individual cracks in the coating composition that are substantially invisible to the naked eye. The invention also extends to a pre-manufactured construction element (40) for use in assembly of structures using semi-skilled labour.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for dimensionally uniform building construction using interlocking connectors. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus comprises a system of building blocks, each block having a top, a bottom, an interior face, an exterior face, and two end faces. Each block is substantially dimensionally uniform, and has at least one vertically aligned female dovetail slot in each face, with substantially uniform lateral spacing between slots. Interlocking connectors or clips, in one embodiment comprising dual male dovetails, mate with the female dovetail slots and connect the blocks together. After erection of the wall, reinforcing rods and concrete may be placed within the block cavities. In similar fashion, objects such as exterior facing and interior cabinetry may be suspended from the faces of the blocks by attaching clips to the objects then inserting the clips in the mating female dovetail slots. The invention further comprises generally vertically disposed wall studs having female dovetail slots therein. By affixing clips to desired wall hangings, the hangings can then be suspended from the wall studs. Another embodiment of the clip provides a stop screw therein for fixed placement of the clip at a desired elevation. With such clip in place, other objects may then be placed at a desired elevation by using the screw-containing clip as a stop. Structural members such as ceiling joists and roof rafters may be attached to walls constructed from the building blocks, by clips fastened to the ceiling joists or roof rafters then inserted into the dovetail slots.

    摘要: A building block (10) of the type which can be used to construct a structure made up of a number of identical such blocks disposed side to side. The blocks are usually square although triangular blocks may be used in conjunction therewith. The preferred form of the square block is provided with four flat sides including parallel first (14) and second (18) sides and parallel third (16) and fourth (12) sides. Two flanges (42, 40) extend along the respective first and third sides, projecting outwardly therefrom. Two recesses (60, 49) shaped complementarily to the flanges extend along the respective second and fourth sides, projecting inwardly therefrom. The first flange intersects the second flange adjacent the junction between the first side and the third side. At their opposite ends the flanges comprise triangular portions (54, 66) which span the respective recesses and are provided with indentations in their outer faces which are aligned with the recesses. Adjacent the junction (20) between the second side and the fourth side, the recesses intersect and comprise a common indentation (70) which receives the indented triangular portions of the flanges of adjacent blocks in the structure. The form of the blocks ensures that all interfaces between blocks laid adjacent one another in a structure are covered by the flanges. For a wall structure, the blocks are preferably laid with the sides at 45.degree. to the horizontal. Blocks of polygonal shapes are also envisaged.

A column is formed by alternate courses of corner units having angularly disposed bores and side block units interconnected at each course level by anchors having head ends at each end and engaging side units across each of the corners and supported so that the head ends extend into successive rows of corner and side units. Various arrangements of combinations of the wall types with corners and columns is possible due to the arrangement of bores in the block and corner units and the configuration of the two anchor types.
