Abstract:
The present invention provides a respiratory interface device including a mask having an upper, mask upper portion, a lower, mask lower portion, a flexible connecting member, and a patient contacting cushion. The flexible connecting member extends between, and is coupled to both, the mask upper portion and the mask lower portion. The flexible connecting member permits the mask upper portion and the mask lower portion to flex relative to one another. The patient contacting cushion is coupled to, and extends about, the mask upper portion, the mask lower portion, and the flexible connecting member. A brace assembly having a body with at least one mask coupling is provided. The brace is coupled to the mask upper portion and to the mask lower portion. The brace limits the outward rotation of the mask upper portion relative to the mask lower portion.
Abstract:
A mask system including a frame module and a cushion module provided to the frame module and adapted to form a seal with the patient's face. The cushion module includes a main body defining a breathing chamber and adapted to interface with the frame module and a cushion adapted to form a seal with the patient's face. The main body and the cushion are comolded with one another.
Abstract:
A mask assembly includes a mask with an inflatable bladder. The internal pressure of the inflatable bladder can be set to be higher than the delivered therapeutic pressure. The pressure offset may be constant, or it may vary over the range of therapeutic pressures. Thus, the force necessary to maintain a contact seal between the mask and the patient can be reduced, thereby providing a system that is more comfortable to the patient, which increases patient compliance.
Abstract:
A mask system for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a common frame provided without built-in or integral headgear attachment points and at least first and second headgear connectors adapted to be provided to the frame. Each of the at least first and second headgear connectors are adapted to attach headgear straps of headgear. The at least first and second headgear connectors are different from one another in at least one aspect.
Abstract:
A respiratory interface device is provided. The respiratory interface device includes a mask (10) having a faceplate (12) and a patient contacting cushion (15), the patient contacting cushion coupled to, and extending about, the faceplate, a brace assembly (40) having a brace body (42) with at least one mask coupling, the mask and the brace assembly coupled at the mask coupling, wherein the mask coupling. The mask soft coupling utilizes a flexible membrane assembly, the flexible membrane assembly being disposed between the mask and the brace body.
Abstract:
A respiratory mask has an adjustable forehead support member that is simple and inexpensive to manufacture. The forehead support member may be adjusted by rotating a forehead pad about an off-center bore or by bending an angular adjustment beam. The mask has a mask cushion with an accordionate membrane having at least two hinged portions. The mask may be constructed with a mask frame, the mask cushion, and the forehead support member molded as one piece.
Abstract:
A PAP system for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a flow generator to generate a supply of breathable gas to be delivered to the patient; a humidifier including a heating plate to vaporize water and deliver water vapor to humidify the supply of breathable gas; a heated tube configured to heat and deliver the humidified supply of breathable gas to the patient; a power supply configured to supply power to the heating plate and the heated tube; and a controller configured to control the power supply to prevent overheating of the heating plate and the heated tube.
Abstract:
A forehead-contacting device for a breathing mask includes a support element made from an elastomer material. The support element forms a support face which in an application position is adapted to seat on a forehead area of a user. The support element includes a jacket that defines a hollow chamber adapted to be filled with a viscous medium.
Abstract:
A mask assembly includes a forehead support having a base provided to a frame and at least one, and preferably two upwardly extending support arms. The arms define a fixed or an adjustable included angle that is preferably less than 180° and, in the range of about 100°-150°. The arms can be attached either directly to headgear straps, or the arms can be connected to headgear straps via clips.
Abstract:
A patient interface of the present invention includes a faceplate including a plurality of headgear attachment elements, a seal member operatively coupled to the faceplate; and an adjustment mechanism coupling the seal member to the faceplate. The adjustment mechanism controls the position of the seal member relative to the faceplate such that the seal member is moveable from a first position to a second position and is maintained in the second position during use of the patient interface after being moved to the second position.
