Abstract: An ophthalmic stimulator for temporarily constricting a pupil of an eye comprises an irradiation control system, having a feedback system, to generate an irradiation control signal using a feedback of the feedback system; an irradiation source, coupled to the irradiation control system, to generate an irradiation; and an irradiation delivery system, having a targeting system and coupled to the irradiation control system, to receive the irradiation from the irradiation source, and to direct a patterned irradiation in a pattern to a treatment region of an iris of the eye using the targeting system; wherein the irradiation control system controls at least one of the irradiation source and the irradiation delivery system with the irradiation control signal so that the patterned irradiation causes a temporary constriction of the pupil, without causing a permanent constriction of the pupil.

Abstract: An ophthalmology apparatus includes an apparatus body on which a first measurer and a second measurer are provided and which is movable relative to a base by a driver, a forehead support provided on the base, and a controller. The controller detects a first front position setting a distance between the second measurer and the forehead support as a first interval and a second front position setting a distance between the second measurer and the forehead support as a second interval larger than the first interval, and emits a warning when the apparatus body reaches the second front position in moving the apparatus body to a forehead support side and stops movement of the apparatus body to the forehead support side when the apparatus body reaches the first front position.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a fundus of a subject. The apparatus includes a focusing unit which adjusts a defocus of the apparatus. The focusing unit includes a first focusing mirror and a second focusing mirror. The first focusing mirror and second focusing mirror are arranged so that an incident beam from the light source entering the focusing unit and an emitted beam exiting the focusing unit are substantially parallel to each other. Adjustment of the defocus is accomplished by moving both first focusing mirror and second focusing mirror such that incident beam and emitted beam remain substantially parallel to each other. The apparatus includes a wavefront sensor for detecting a shape of a wavefront. The apparatus includes a wavefront correction device. The wavefront correction device adjusts a wavefront of the light from the light source based on the shape of the wavefront detected by the wavefront sensor.

Abstract: An electronic SLO/OCT ophthalmoscope is equipped with a femtosecond (fs) laser for intra- or preretinal therapeutic use in the posterior segment of the eye. In one application the retina photoreceptor mosaic or Bruch's membrane is disrupted in such pattern that minimizes loss of visual functioning but reduces metabolic load of the outer retina. Using a beam splitter, one embodiment combines the SLO/OCT scanning beams with the therapeutic fs beam and an aiming beam. The therapeutic channel uses an independent x/y positioner and micro-deflector. Because the duty cycle is appropriate, a second embodiment can use the SLO/OCT scanners to also simultaneously scan a modulated therapeutic laser beam. A biometric OCT probe can be integrated in both configurations for focusing purpose. A method is disclosed to represent focus relevant tilting of the retina in the posterior pole. A derived apodizing “Stiles-Crawford” pupil weighting function is also independently useful for calculating light efficiency throughput of the anterior eye optics (cornea and iol/natural lens) in various circumstances.

Abstract: An optical coherence tomography includes a light source, a light separator, a light generator configured to generate interference light, a detector configured to detect the interference light, a first optical element, and at least one of second optical elements comprising a pair of surfaces, and performs forming a tomographic image of a subject. The first optical element is arranged on a measurement light path so as to be closest to the subject, and satisfies at least one of following conditional formulas: −(W−S) X−W+S, [c2] W: a predetermined operation distance U: a depth of interest S: a range of interest X: a distance which is greater than W+U+S and minimal among distance(s) between the pair of surfaces Z: a shallowest position of the area of interest relative to an origin position.
