    摘要: A medical instrument has a shaft. The shaft has an outer shaft and an inner shaft. The outer shaft encloses the inner shaft. The medical instrument further has an actuator for rotating the inner shaft about a longitudinal axis relative to the outer shaft, arranged at a proximal end region of the shaft. The medical instrument has at least two tappet elements for transferring a rotary movement of the actuator to the inner shaft, which are engaged interchangeably with the inner shaft for transferring the rotary movement of the actuator to the inner shaft. The tappet elements reach through peripherally limited openings in a proximal end region of the outer shaft, which openings are offset with respect to one another in the longitudinal direction.

    摘要: The invention relates to shielded reciprocating cutting tool such as a surgical file system for precisely removing bone and/or other tissue material. The system allows a user to maneuver the system and navigate into hard to access sites under a direct vision mechanism included in the system. A transmission mechanism converts rotary motion from a motor into reciprocating motion and provides it to a cutting tool such as the surgical file for precision bone and/or tissue removal. A pulsatile pump mechanism can be operatively coupled with the transmission mechanism and provides irrigating fluid to the surgical site.

    摘要: The invention provides a rotational atherectomy system, device and method comprising a bi-directional drive shaft with a flexible ablation element disposed at the distal end of the drive shaft. The flexible ablation element comprises a first retracted position for insertion into vasculature and a second expanded position for ablation, i.e., cutting, sanding and/or grinding. The ablation element comprises more than one flexible finger or blade which allows changing, in certain embodiments, of curvature radius to fit inside a deployment catheter and/or enlarge to the diameter of larger lumens, up to at least 9 mm in diameter. Bi-directional rotation of the expanded ablation element allows cutting in one rotational direction and grinding and/or sanding in the opposite rotational direction.

    摘要: A tissue cutting system that is especially suited for neurosurgical applications is disclosed and described. The system includes a tissue cutting device and a bi-directionally manipulable foot actuator assembly that is operatively connected to the tissue cutting device. The device includes a handpiece and an outer cannula in which a reciprocating inner cannula is disposed. The inner cannula includes a hinge between a body section and a cutting section that allows the cutting section to pivot when the inner cannula reciprocates within the outer cannula. A vacuum generator is in fluid communication with the inner cannula lumen. When the footswitch is manipulated in a first direction, the vacuum generator generates a vacuum level in the inner cannula lumen. When the footswitch is manipulated in a second direction, the inner cutting cannula is enabled for reciprocation upon manipulating the footswitch in the first direction.
