    Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate scalable synchronization channels in a wireless communications system. According to one example, a wireless communication device may identify a reference synchronization channel including a reference bandwidth and a reference numerology, where the reference numerology includes a reference subcarrier spacing and a reference cyclic prefix. The reference synchronization channel may be scaled according to a type of communication, resulting in a scaled synchronization channel including a scaled bandwidth and a scaled numerology compatible with the communication type. According to another example, a wireless communication device may determine a communication type employed by the device for wireless communications, and may search for a particular scaled synchronization channel based on the determined communication type. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to scaled numerology for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveforms or other forms of communication. First information can be encoded into a first numerology at a first set of tones and first synchronization information can be encoded into a second numerology at second set of tones. In addition, second synchronization information can be encoded into a guard band in such a way that this information can be interpreted under either the first numerology or the second numerology.

    Abstract: Techniques for signaling dynamic region for PRACH transmission are described. In an aspect, the disclosure describes a method for receiving, at a user equipment (UE), an indication of a number of symbols that the UE is to use when transmitting via a physical random access channel (PRACH), and transmitting, by the UE, via the PRACH over one or more slots based on the number of symbols. In another aspect, the disclosure describes a method for generating, at a network device, an indication of a number of symbols that a UE is to use when transmitting PRACH, transmitting, by the network device, the indication to the UE. A UE and network device configuration as well as apparatuses and computer-readable medium related to these methods are also described.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving an indication of at least one receive capability of a network access device; transmitting a first message of a random access channel (RACH) procedure; receiving a random access response (RAR) message in response to transmitting the first message; and interpreting the RAR message according to a format based at least in part on the received indication. A method for wireless communication at a network access device includes transmitting an indication of at least one receive capability of the network access device; receiving, from a UE, a first message of a RACH procedure; and transmitting a RAR message to the UE in response to receiving the first message. The RAR message has a format based at least in part on the at least one receive capability of the network access device.
