    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide procedures for new radio (NR) cell measurement. According to certain aspects, a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes receiving one or more downlink signals from a cell, wherein the cell is of a first cell type that supports a first set of functions or a second cell type that supports a second set of functions, wherein the second set of functions is different than the first set of functions; determining a cell type of the cell based on the one or more downlink signals; and communicating with the cell based on the determination.

    Abstract: Methods implemented by a processor in a wireless device for detecting the presence in a network of a jammer or non-benign entity that targets physical layer channels in a communication network are disclosed. Various embodiments may determine a first signal measurement quantity based on a first physical layer communication, determine a second signal measurement quantity based on a second physical layer communication, determine a difference between the first signal measurement quantity and the second signal measurement quantity, determine whether the difference between the first signal measurement quantity and the second signal measurement quantity satisfies a threshold, determine whether a jammer or non-benign entity is present in the network in response to determining that the difference between the first signal measurement quantity and the second signal measurement quantity satisfies the threshold, and perform a mitigation operation in response to determining that a jammer or non-benign entity is present in the network.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, otherwise known as a user equipment (UE) may receive a downlink control information (DCI) message including an indication to enable discontinuous monitoring of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). The UE may enable the discontinuous monitoring of the PDCCH based on the received DCI message, and disable monitoring of the PDCCH during a temporal period in which at least one of physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) reception, downlink reference signal monitoring, uplink reference signal transmissions, and channel reporting is enabled. The UE may thereby experience power saving by disabling monitoring of the PDCCH while still performing other wireless operations during the temporal period. The UE may, as a result, also include features for improvements to wireless communications and, in some examples, may promote high reliability and low latency wireless communications, among other benefits.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Private keys may be maintained upstream in a network at a more secure location. For example, when a signature is needed, a base station may transmit a signing request to a signing function within the core network and may transmit system information (SI) to be protected. The signing function may use a private key to generate a signature for the SI and returns the signature to the base station. The base station may transmit the SI and the signature to user equipment (UEs) within a coverage area of the base station. The UEs may obtain a public key corresponding to the private key and may use the public key to verify that the signature for the SI is valid and from the base station. The public key, and hence the signature, may correspond to a particular tracking area.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for transmitting an uplink reference signal, receiving a keep alive (KA) command based, at least in part, on the uplink reference signal, and taking one or more actions to perform a handover to a non-serving base station (BS) in accordance with the KA command. Additionally, aspects provide methods and apparatus for receiving an uplink reference signal from a user equipment (UE), measuring the uplink reference signal, and transmitting a KA command to the UE based, at least in part, on the measured uplink reference signal. The KA command may be scrambled by an identifier associated with the UE. Additionally or alternatively, a cyclic prefix (CP) of the uplink reference signal may be longer than a CP of another type of reference signal.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may receive a downlink (DL) reception indication during an active duration of a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The DL reception indication may indicate the presence of a reception opportunity following an inactivity interval, as well as the length of the inactivity interval. The wireless device may refrain from DL monitoring during the inactivity interval. In some cases, the wireless device may enter a sleep mode during the inactivity interval and wake up to receive a subsequent transmission during the reception opportunity. In some examples, the wireless device may use the inactivity interval to communicate using a different radio access technology (RAT).

According to certain aspects, a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes receiving a configuration indicating one or more triggers for transmitting on an uplink access channel, wherein the one or more triggers comprise a first indication of mobility of the UE, determining, based at least in part on detection of one of the one or more triggers, to transmit on the uplink access channel, transmitting a signal on the uplink access channel, and receiving, in response to the transmission of the signal on the uplink access channel, a second indication of at least one of: confirmation of reception of the signal or a paging notification.

    Abstract: The disclosure provides for a user equipment (UE) detecting an indication of an application-specific latency reduction triggering condition that may trigger switching of a communication state of the UE. For example, the UE may be in an initial state. The UE may transition into a different state that is associated with lower latency for data transfer. In an aspect, the UE may trigger the indication for latency reduction even when the network-configured criteria for the indication has not yet been met. The UE may trigger an application-specific latency reduction triggering condition during the startup of an application, which triggers a resource request message even before the network-configured threshold value for generating such resource request messages is satisfied. The resource request message may cause the network to command the UE to transition to a state that has a latency less than that in the current state.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may receive data during an active duration of a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The wireless device may be configured such that it identifies a transmission opportunity following the reception opportunity, so that it may transmit a response to the received data during the transmission opportunity. In another example, the wireless device may transmit data during an active duration of a discontinuous transmission (DTX) configuration. The device may be configured such that it identifies a reception opportunity following the DTX active duration, so that a response may be received during the reception opportunity. The presence of a transmission opportunity following a DRX active duration, or a reception opportunity following a DTX active duration may depend on the service type and priority of the data being communicated, and may be either semi-statically configured or dynamically signaled.
