Abstract: Mechanisms for reduction of channel state information (CSI) feedback overhead are disclosed for full dimensional multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) systems with large dimension antenna ports. In one aspect, rank-dependent CSI antenna port measurements are used in order to limit the number of antenna ports for high rank CSI reporting. Another aspect allows a user equipment (UE) to select subband feedback for aperiodic CSI porting on an uplink shared channel when the UE is to report subband quality and precoding indicators. Another aspect provides for on-demand CSI feedback that dynamically configures CSI feedback parameters. To reduce the signaling overhead, the multiple parameter sets may be pre-configured with different values for dynamic reporting parameters.

Abstract: Enhanced channel state information (CSI) feedback is disclosed for full dimensional multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) operations. In one aspect, a single CSI process is defined that is configured with an azimuth and elevation CSI-reference signal (RS) ports. A user equipment (UE) will send a precoding matrix indictor (PMI) report including a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for the azimuth ports and a PMI for the elevation ports. One of the PMIs is assigned a low rank. The base station will use the two PMIs to create a whole channel precoding matrix. In another aspect, a single CSI process is configured having a plurality of CSI-RS resources. The UE generates channel measurement information for each of the CSI-RS resources, but only sets a CSI report to the base station of a subset of the total number of resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support random-access occasion (RO) selection for reduced-capability (RedCap) user equipment (UEs). A RedCap UE operating in a half-duplex mode may use the techniques described herein to efficiently select an RO in which to transmit a random-access preamble based on a duration between a latest received downlink transmission and the RO satisfying a threshold duration. The UE may receive system information mapping a set of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) to a set of ROs. The UE may then select an RO from the set of ROs in which to transmit the random-access preamble such that the UE has sufficient time to transition from a receive mode to a transmit mode to transmit the random-access preamble.

Abstract: Comb adaptation for interlaced frequency division multiplex (IFDM) demodulation reference signals (DMRS) is discussed. Transmission configuration for DMRS may be assigned to UEs with a coded combination of cyclic shift, OCC, and comb value. Some assigned combinations provide for a different comb value to be used for the different slots in the same subframe. Further aspects provide additional interference randomization through comb shifting, using inter-subframe hopping functions. Additionally, where retransmissions are present without uplink grant, the UE may select comb values for retransmissions based on the counter number for the retransmissions, which are different than the comb values used for the original DMRS transmissions.

A method by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving one or more pilots based on at least one precoder used for transmitting data on a channel. The UE estimates interference based on the one or more pilots and the UE decodes the data transmission based on the interference estimate.

Abstract: Signaling design for interlaced frequency divisional multiplex (IFDM) demodulation reference signals (DMRS) is discussed in which a dynamic indication is provided to a user equipment (UE) from a serving base station that allows the UE to configure transmission of DMRS according to either a single carrier frequency divisional multiplex (SC-FDM) or IFDM configurations, as indicated by the dynamic indication. The IFDM configuration may be applicable to either regular uplink subframes or within the uplink portion of special subframes. In some aspects, power boosting may be provided for the DMRS in order to equalize transmit power between decimated DMRS transmitted with the data tones. Additional aspects may also provide for different offsets to be used depending on the type of uplink control signal transmitted.
