    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently performing measurements and other functions in preparation for communicating with a base station on a secondary cell (SCell). In particular, a user equipment (UE) may switch to a certain bandwidth part (BWP) (e.g., a dormant BWP) on an SCell when the SCell is deactivated, and the UE may perform the appropriate measurements and functions on this BWP (e.g., based on reference signals received on this BWP). In some cases, the UE may determine to switch to the BWP for performing the appropriate measurements and functions based on an inactivity timer expiring or based on an indication from a base station (e.g., on a primary cell (PCell)). Accordingly, once the UE activates the SCell for communications with a base station, the latency associated with preparing for communicating on the SCell may be reduced.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that a cell is associated with a deployment mode based on a condition being satisfied, where the deployment mode may be associated with serving one or more UEs travelling at high speeds. The UE may select from one of a frequency-based initial cell selection or a cell-based initial cell selection and may measure one or more frequencies of one or more cells including the cell to obtain a set of measured parameters, each cell corresponding to a respective deployment mode and a respective measured parameter. The UE may select a candidate cell from the one or more cells based on the respective measured parameters of each cell and the respective deployment modes of each cell and may establish a connection with the candidate cell based on the selecting.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect, while operating in an out-of-service (OOS) mode associated with a first network, that a second network satisfies one or more switching criteria. The UE may increase a time duration associated with a periodic network acquisition scan associated with the first network based at least in part on detecting that the second network satisfies the one or more switching criteria. The UE may switch, while operating in the OOS mode, from using the first network for connectivity to using the second network for connectivity based at least in part on detecting that the second network satisfies the one or more switching criteria.
