    Abstract: The present invention provides a paging method and device. The method includes: obtaining, by a core network element, cell type information supported by a terminal; and sending, by the core network element, a paging message to a base station, where the paging message carries the cell type information supported by the terminal or a cell identity determined according to the cell type information supported by the terminal, so that the base station sends a paging message to a cell corresponding to the cell type information supported by the terminal or a cell corresponding to the cell identity.
