Abstract: A video transmitter identifies regions in pictures in a compressed three-dimensional (3D) video comprising a base view video and an enhancement view video. The identified regions are not referenced by other pictures in the compressed 3D video. The identified regions are watermarked. Pictures such as a high layer picture in the base view video and the enhancement view video are identified for watermarking. The identified regions in the base view and/or enhancement view videos are watermarked and multiplexed into a transport stream for transmission. An intended video receiver extracts the base view video, the enhancement view video and corresponding watermark data from the received transport stream. The corresponding extracted watermark data are synchronized with the extracted base view video and the extracted enhancement view video, respectively, for watermark insertion. The resulting base view and enhancement view videos are decoded into a left view video and a right view video, respectively.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for handling transition errors is presented herein. The transition errors include handling unreported time base discontinuities during trick mode transition, miscalculated time stamps during trick mode transition, erroneous sequence end codes, and unreported broken group of picture transmission. Unreported time base discontinuities are detected by comparing the program clock reference (PCR) value of the data packet to the system time clock (STC). If the difference exceeds a predetermined threshold, the STC is set to the PCR value. Miscalculated time stamps are detected by examining the difference in PTS values between temporally adjacent data packets. If the difference is not within a margin of error from predetermined value, the PTS is disabled. Unreported broken groups of pictures are handled by skipping the first two B-frames of the first group of pictures following a trick mode transition. Erroneous sequence end codes are detected by determining whether a packet containing a sequence end code is associated with a time base change. If the packet is not associated with a time base change, the sequence end code is disregarded.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing complete Internet anywhere with partial server processing in which a request is sent from a set-top-box (STB) to a server communicatively coupled with the STB to process a portion of a web page that is unsupported by a web browser running on the STB. In one such method, the STB sends to the server an unsupported content request associated with a portion of a web page that is unsupported by a web browser executing on the STB. The STB receives a data stream from the server in response to the unsupported content request. The data stream was generated at the server by processing the unsupported portion of the web page. The STB composites the received data stream with another portion of the web page, that is supported by the web browser, to produce the web page.

Abstract: A system for transmitting multiple adaptive bit rate (ABR) segment streams on a shared frequency may include an ABR segment generator and transmitter circuitry. The ABR segment generator may encode a content item based at least in part on different ABR profiles to generate encoded streams. The ABR profiles may indicate encoding parameters corresponding to the encoded streams, e.g., bit rates, resolutions, frame rates and/or codecs. The ABR segment generator may be further configured to segment the encoded streams to generate ABR segment streams. The transmitter circuitry may be configured to transmit the ABR segment streams on a shared frequency, such as by transmitting the segment streams over spatially separated antennas, or by applying different orbital angular momentums to the ABR segment streams. In one or more implementations, the system may further include a segment interleaver that is configured to interleave the ABR segment streams.

Abstract: A system for adaptive bit rate distribution of multicast streams may include one or more processors and a memory. The one or more processors may be configured to identify streams, such as multicast streams, transmitted by a content delivery network. The streams may each contain a content item that is encoded at a different bit rate for each stream. The one or more processors may determine segments of the streams, for example based on time stamps associated with the content item or markers of the streams. The one or more processors may transmit a first segment of a first stream encoded at a first bit rate to a user device in response to a request therefor and, upon completing the transmission of the first segment, transmit a second segment of a second stream encoded at a second bit rate to the user device in response to a request therefor.
