Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for use in a wireless network for beam failure recovery (BFR). For example, some embodiments are directed to a user equipment (UE). The UE includes radio front end circuitry and processor circuitry coupled to the radio front end circuitry. The processor circuitry can be configured to receive, using the radio front end circuitry, one or more reference signals. The processor circuitry can be further configured to, in response to determining that a beam failure occurred for the one or more reference signals, determine a contention-free (CF) physical random access channel (PRACH) resource for a beam failure recovery (BFR) request. The processor circuitry can be further configured to transmit, using the radio front circuitry, the BFR request using the determined CF PRACH resource.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode control information of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) received via a resource within a control resource set (CORESET) occupying a subset of a plurality of OFDM symbols within a slot. At least one of the symbols in the subset coincides with a pre-defined symbol location associated with a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) of a PDSCH. The DM-RS can be detected within the slot, the DM-RS starting at a symbol location that is shifted from the pre-defined symbol location and following the subset of symbols. Downlink data scheduled by the PDCCH and received via the PDSCH can be decoded, where the decoding is based on the detected DM-RS.

An embodiment provides a user Equipment (UE) comprising circuitry configured to: decode a Reference Signal (RS) received from an access node; and determine beam quality for one or more beam pair links (BPLs) of the RS between the UE and the access node based on the decoded RS, wherein each of the BPLs comprises a transmit (Tx) beam of the access node and a receive (Rx) beam of the UE. Also provided is a procedure of RLM. At least some embodiments allow for beam recovery request for UE beam refinement, and allow for determining whether radio link failure (RLF) occurs.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) that schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), wherein a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) of the PDCCH is scrambled by a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI). In some cases, if the RNTI that scrambles the PDCCH is a modulation coding scheme (MCS) cell RNTI (MCS-C-RNTI), cell RNTI (C-RNTI), or a configured scheduling RNTI (CS-RNTI), the UE may determine that: one or more PT-RSs are present in the PDSCH, a time density parameter of the PT-RSs is equal to one, and a frequency density of the PT-RSs is equal to two.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for multiplexing of PUCCH for beam failure recovery and other signals. A UE may determine a transmission dropping rule and a transmission power scaling rule for a PUCCH which is dedicatedly configured for secondary BFR transmission, such as a PUCCH-BFR, when it is multiplexed with at least one other signal. The PUCCH-BFR and the at least one other signal may be multiplexed in a CC or in multiple CCs. The UE may determine a transmission dropping rule, e.g., so that UE can transmit an uplink signals with higher priority and drop the other uplink signal with lower priority to avoid beam collisions. The UE may determine a transmission power scaling rule, e.g., so the UE may scale transmission power within a CC and/or across CCs. The UE may multiplex the PUCCH-BFR with the at least one other signal according to the rules.
