    Abstract: In an aspect, a communications node selects a reference device for a positioning procedure based on hardware group capabilities associated with reference devices involved in the positioning procedure (e.g., RTT, differential RTT, double differential RTT, TDOA, etc.). In another aspect, a distance between reference devices is estimated based on timing measurements of reference signal(s) for positioning. A hardware group delay associated with the reference devices is estimated based on (i) the estimated distance between the first and second reference devices, and (ii) a known distance between the first and second reference devices.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for UE positioning are described. In some embodiments, a UE is configured to transmit a reference signal to a network resource for performing measurements on the reference signal and deriving the position of the UE. The timing of the reference signal is tracked at a particular precision. The precision is based on a timing accuracy that the UE can support from different timing accuracies. The different timing accuracies may be supported, each of which may have a different set of timing error limits. For example, for an angular-based positioning of the UE, a low timing accuracy may be supported. In comparison, for a timing-based positioning method, a high timing accuracy may be supported.

    Abstract: A method of initiating positioning reference signal exchange includes: determining, at a first user equipment, a null-zone presence of the first user equipment, the null-zone presence of the first user equipment being at least one of a current presence of the first user equipment in a null zone or a future presence of the first user equipment in the null zone; and transmitting, from the first user equipment and in response to determining the null-zone presence of the first user equipment, a request for positioning reference signal exchange between the first user equipment and a second user equipment separate from the first user equipment.

    Abstract: Techniques for communication by a user equipment (UE) are disclosed. Techniques can include determining a positioning state information (PSI) report to transmit, where the PSI report comprises positioning-related information, and selecting a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource with which to transmit the PSI report, where the selected PUCCH resource comprises a number of resource blocks (RBS). Techniques can further include determining whether to transmit the PSI report using the selected PUCCH resource, based on: the number of RBS, a size of uplink control information (UCI) to be transmitted using the selected PUCCH resource, the selected PUCCH resource being configured with a capability to include both the PSI report and a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK), or the selected PUCCH resource being configured to include only one or more PSI reports, and optionally one or more CSI reports, as a payload, or any combination thereof.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for reducing overhead of low layer positioning reports. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) operating in discontinuous reception (DRX) mode determines that the UE is not expected to wake up during a next DRX ON duration of a DRX cycle; determines, based on one or more factors, whether to wake up during the next DRX ON duration to transmit a positioning measurement report or an uplink positioning reference signal (UL-PRS); and based on the determination: wakes up and transmits the positioning measurement report or the UL-PRS during the next DRX ON duration, or remains in a DRX sleep state and refrains from transmitting the positioning measurement report or the UL-PRS during the next DRX ON duration.
